br. L'ormai consolidato flusso migratorio proveniente dai paesi islamici ha generato in Occidente una serie di problematiche legate alla convivenza. Nei rapporti con i musulmani, continuiamo a chiederci per quale ragione avanzino pretese che spesso sono in disaccordo con i nostri principi religiosi, etici e civili, mentre i notiziari ci martellano con notizie di attacchi contro chiese oppure contro chi non rispetta il nome del loro Profeta. Partendo dal presupposto che l'islam è il Corano e che solo partendo da quest'ultimo si può "leggere" la visione delle cose dei suoi fedeli, l'autore ripercorre la storia della convivenza tra cristiani e musulmani nei Paesi dove questi ultimi sono diventati maggioritari, da Maometto fino al XX secolo. Dallo stato di "protetti" (?imm?) in quanto seguaci di una religione del Libro, alla progressiva emarginazione, dall'occupazione di cariche di responsabilità nell'apparato statale alla quasi completa estromissione, fino alla sottoscrizione di veri e propri "contratti" tra le comunità cristiane e l'autorità islamica. Un libro per capire tanti episodi di attualità, frutto di studi approfonditi sul testo sacro islamico, la tradizione (sunnah) e le maggiori opere di autori musulmani e arabo-cristiani dell'epoca. Un'opera che fa luce sul passato per aiutarci a decifrare il presente.
