Radicalizzazione islamica e marginalità. Una lettura criminologica
br. La dissoluzione politica e militare dello Stato islamico rappresenta l'occasione per studiare la cosiddetta "terza ondata" del jihad, composta da figli di immigrati, cresciuti ai margini delle città occidentali e intrappolati in un'identità sospesa. L'islam radicale ha offerto a questi giovani un'ideologia capace di ricomporre le loro frammentate storie di vita e un orizzonte di significato per trasformare in riscatto il "quietismo" dei padri, divenendo combattenti e martiri in Occidente o nel Califfato. L'ideologia islamica radicale ha così fornito una cornice identitaria che, travalicando i confini dell'appartenenza nazionale, sociale ed economica, ha reso i giovani, maschi e femmine, parte di una umma globale. Il volume analizza i processi di radicalizzazione - e i luoghi di proselitismo, con particolare attenzione al web e al carcere - dei jihadisti europei, tratteggiando le biografie di quanti hanno combattuto la guerra santa. Le ragioni dell'adesione all'islam radicale sono interpretate alla luce delle teorie criminologiche che muovono dal concetto di frustrazione anomica e indagano i meccanismi di costruzione della marginalità sociale e della pericolosità criminale. La subcultura jihadista - che trasforma lo stigma in segno positivo e di distinzione - viene dunque intesa quale soluzione collettiva ai problemi di adattamento in una società escludente.

Holy Kaba'h Muazzama' tells the story of this sacred journey, using documentary materials like photographs, postcards, engravings, and other documents that remain from Muslims of from who observe them in this most serious worship for the world of Islam in their journey from all around the world to the pilgrimage task. Beyond the recorded documents, artistic works that include maps prepared manually or with various tools for imprinting in different periods, lithographs, Ka'bah covers, photographs, and Hilyas which refer to this journey were bought together. The most comprehensive work on this subject in Turkey, the exhibition was prepared with works borrowed from various collections.

The Holy Message: Exhibition of Qur'anic Manuscripts.= Kutsal Risalet: Yazma Mushaf Sergisi [Exhibition catalogue].
New English Paperback. 4to. (28 x 24 cm). In English, Turkish, and Arabic. 198 p., color ills. "The Holy Message Exhibition of Qur'anic Manuscripts" will be open to visits throughout the month of Ramadan, when the Prophet received the first verses of the Qur'an and assumed his post as the holy messenger. In the exibition, where also the sanjak (flag) mushafs will be exhibited along with the large-sized Mushaf al-Sherifs, more than 70 manuscripts will be displayed. The manuscripts will also be elucidated for the visitors by information boards mounted along their display where, apart from their historical and artistic value, also the pigments used in their illumination and ornamentation, covering techniques, and details on their prior reparations which cannot be immediately recognized by an untrained eye. In the exhibition, alongside the Korans, all of which are masterpieces prepared by Ottoman calligraphers (hattat) and painters (nakkas), the Mushafs with Kufic strips from different periods such as: Abbasids, Seljuks, Ilkhanids, Gaznavids, Safavids, and Mamluks; as well as from different regions such as India and the Maghreb that has never been exhibited before will be put to display. The notable artefacts of the exhibit are the Mushaf al-Sherif donated by Mehmed the Conqueror, the Mushaf al-Sherif written down with gold ink for Özbeg Khan, and particularly the 12 centuries old ancient Mushaf al-Sherif registred in the Nuruosmaniye Mosque inventory, which was written with a Kufic gold-inscribed calligraphy on a parchement at a time when paper was not commonly used in the Islamic World.

8vo, hardcover in dj, 220pp.For hundreds of years Westerners have been fascinated by stories of the Assassins, their mysterious leader and their remote mountain stronghold at Alamut in Northern Iran. The legends first emerged in the 12th and 13th centuries, when Crusaders in Syria came into contact with the Nazari Isma'ilis, one of the communities of Shi'ite Islam who, at the behest of their leader Hassan Sabaa (mythologized as the "Old Man of the Mountain"), engaged in dangerous missions to kill their enemies. Elaborated over the years, the tales culminated in Marco Polo's claim that the "Old Man" controlled the behaviour of his self-sacrificing devotees through the use of hashish and a secret garden of paradise. So influential were these tales that the word "assassin" entered European languages as a common noun meaning "murderer". Daftary traces the origins and early development of the legends - as well as investigating the historical context in which they were fabricated and transmitted. As such, this book reveals an extraordinary programme of propaganda rooted in the medieval Muslim world and medieval Europe's ignorance of this world. This book also provides the first English translation of French orientalist Silvestre de Sacy's famous 19th-century "Memoir" on the Assassins.
