‎Zur dritten, überarbeiteten und erweiterten Auflage Die Fülle der neuen Forschungsansätze und - ergebnisse zu nahezu allen seinerzeit in diesem Band behandelten Bereiche verlangte nach einer grundlegenden Überarbeitung insbesondere des zweiten, des Forschungsteils. Darüber hinaus mußten Gebiete berücksichtigt werden, die erst im Verlauf des letzten Jahrzehnts wachsende Aufmerksamkeit gefunden haben.
