Stati, nazioni e nazionalismi in Europa
br. Lo sviluppo politico europeo ha alternato fasi di relativa omogeneità e unità a fasi di frammentazione e particolarismo. L'Europa attuale conferma queste contraddizioni da una parte, essa consolida e amplia la sua unità con il varo di una costituzione europea e con l'allargamento da 15 a 25 stati aderenti; dall'altra, però, nazionalismi, regionalismi e localismi mostrano come le spinte verso la frammentazione siano tutt'altro che scomparse. Questo libro analizza in prospettiva comparata le principali mobilitazioni nazionaliste verificatesi in Europa negli ultimi due secoli con l'obiettivo di comprendere, senza sottovalutare le specificità dei singoli casi, le cause dei nazionalismi nelle loro diverse manifestazioni.

Tutto si confonde. Lo spazio e il tempo sono dilatati, avvolti dal biancore, in un paesaggio che non cambia mai. Ho attraversato la Lapponia a piedi in inverno, camminato tra i fiordi della Groenlandia e sotto la pioggia della Kamchatka, esplorato il Canada con un furgoncino Volkswagen, girovagato in Norvegia, Islanda, Scozia e isole Faroe.
