In 1942 the National Savings Committees for Dorset united in a drive to replace by war savings the cruiser 'Dorsetshire'; £3,000,000 was raised in just over six months. Subsequently the Dorset Wings for Victory campaign set out to achieve a similar success for the RAF. Creasey was nominated co-Hon. Publicity Secretary (from his address at 'Cattistock', Fernlea Avenue, Ferndown, Wimborne, Dorset) together with T.F.E. Jakeman of Weymouth. The pamphlet is sub-titled 'Vivid true Stories of epic Flights by the RAF'. A fragile item and a rare survival.‎

Published four months after the first edition. Arguably the finest account of the Battle of Britain by a British fighter pilot. Hillary flew Spitfires out of Hornchurch with 603 Squadron and claimed five victories before being badly burned over the North Sea. An early member of the Guinea Pig Club, he was treated by McIndoe and returned to duty, but was killed shortly after in a training accident. The work was many times reprinted, but early issues are scarce. The US title is 'Falling Through Space'. Enser, p.157‎

In many cases they represent the first publicly published accounts of the engagements concerned, and normally contain excellent maps and plans together with direct transcripts from official despatches not easily available elsewhere.This supplement includes the following transcripts: Cunningham (CinC Mediterranean): despatch to Admiralty 16 January 1941; Boyd (Captain of HMS Illustrious): despatch to Admiralty 13 November 1940; Lyster ( Rear-Admiral Commanding Mediterranean Aircraft Carriers): covering note 26 November 1940; fine folding plan of the harbour and environs with attack details noted.‎

‎Single sheet, measuring 8.25 x 6.0 ins (approx. 21.0 x 15.0 cms), on printed stationery from Learoyd's home in Rustington, and dated 7 September 1995; near fine state. THE LETTER IS WRITTEN, DATED AND SIGNED ENTIRELY IN LEAROYD'S HAND, AND IS SOLD WITH A POOR QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAIT. Roderick Alastair Brook Learoyd was gazetted for the Victoria Cross on 20 August 1940. The citation reads: 'On 12 August 1940 Flight Lieutenant Learoyd was one of the pilots briefed to bomb the Dortmund-Ems Canal in Germany. Of the four other aircraft which had already made the attack on that night, two were destroyed and two were badly hit. Flight Lieutenant Learoyd took his plane into the target at only 150 feet, in the full glare of the searchlights and flak barrage all around him. The aircraft was very badly damaged but the bombs were duly dropped and he managed to get his crippled plane back to England where he flew round until first light, finally landing without causing injury to his crew or further damage to his aircraft'. Flight Lieutenant (later Wing Commander) Roderick Alastair Brook Learoyd (1913-1996) was serving with 49 Squadron, Bomber Command.‎
