Contains multiple articles introducing and analyzing airplane models such as the Wright biplane Macfie British Aeroplane Avis Monoplane and more. This was clearly a highly inventive time in the aeronautical field with a multitude of companies producing these rudimentary single passenger planes for hobbyists such as the likely readership of this magazine. Advertisements for fledgling companies looking to break into the field are littered throughout the magazine. There is also a segment titled: Aviation News of the Week where stories of individual pilots are published regarding their mishaps or successes in the field of flight. The overall tone of this magazine has a quaintness to it with the Flight community being close-knit highly enthusiastic and a bit eccentric. This phenomenon has nonetheless been lost as aeronautics was regulated centralized and militarized as a result of the First World War. This piece is in good condition as wrappers are partially separated minorly chipped and have some stains on front though as a whole the piece is totally suitable for reading. unknown

Early 1920's handwritten manuscript describing the inner workings of an airplane with multiple detailed drawings and descriptions. 14 pages. 5" x 8-1/2". Includes handwritten drawings and journal entries explaining the "general data" including particular speed weight etc. of the planes. Drawings include a "main wiring diagram" .<br /> <br /> The handwritten labels on the drawings include: "Jaguar starting. See that both the engine magnets are switched off and that the throttle is in the slow running position. 2. With gas starter. Connect the gas coupling of the starter to the lead to the distributor of one of the two engine magnets. See that H1 lead switch from gas starter mag to engine mag is switched off. 3. Start the gas starter." A second handwritten description of a drawing reads "The ignition system is a highly developed form of battery-coil ignition designed as an integral part of the engine. The general layout comprises a direct current generated gear driven from the engine." In excellent condition. unknown

TYPED LETTER SIGNED by the famous American aviator CHARLES A. LINDBERGH to the humanitarian and environmental fund raiser Harold L. Oram with his suggestions for the World Wildlife Fund.
<p>Darien Connecticut June 2 1966. 1966. Fine. - Over 230 words typed on 10-7/8 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide watermarked paper. Writing to the founder of the Oram Group Harold L. Oram who raised funds for humanitarian and conservation groups the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh writes with his suggestions for the World Wildlife Fund's membership drive and letter. "Before I send out another 'conservation' letter I would like to have a definite understanding of how replies are to be acknowledged by WWF." "In regard to the brochure enclosed with letters such as this I wonder if it should contain some sort of WWF membership application -- the five-dollar type of thing." He goes on to suggest the possibility that "Membership involves an automatic payment each year whereas the present contribution form brochure I am looking at enclosed casts the contributor loose after his check is sent and requires new bait for a new bite in another year." He concludes by saying that while he likes the present brochure he suggests emphasizing the blue whale in the next one. Signed "Charles". Folded for mailing with a minor crease to the top left corner else fine.</p><p>The American aviator military officer and writer Charles Augustus Lindbergh 1902-1974 flew his aircraft the Spirit of St. Louis on the first nonstop flight from New York to Paris on May 20 & 21 1927. In doing so Lindbergh sent a new flight distance world record and initiated a new era of air transportation. In later life he became heavily involved in humanitarian and conservation movements and campaigned to protect endangered species and as well as protecting the way of life for native tribes in the Philippines and Africa. Lindbergh's essays introduced millions to the conservation cause.</p><p>Harold L. Oram 1907-1990 was the founder and president of the Oram Group a fund raising organization for humanitarian conservation and environmental causes. Oram started his career in 1939 by aiding the relief efforts for for Spanish Loyalists battling the Falangists led by Francisco Franco. Oram raised money for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund The World Population Emergency Campaign which merged with Planned Parenthood The Natural Resources Council the American Civil Liberties Union and the World Wildlife Fund WWF among others.</p> Darien, Connecticut, June 2, 1966.

Sir Alan J. Cobham English aviation pioneer. Circular printed letter in the form of a facsimile of a signed letter by him thanking the recipient for making 'our Air Display a success'.
On letterhead of the National Aviation Day Display National Aviation Displays Ltd. Grand Buildings Trafalgar Square London W.C.2. Undated but with '1932 - 1933 - 1934 - 1935' across the head. Cobham started his National Aviation Day displays known as "Cobham's Flying Circus" in 1932. These displays were a combination of barnstorming and joyriding by a team of skilled pilots in up to fourteen aircraft ranging from single-seaters to modern airliners. The show toured the country calling at hundreds of sites from regular airfields to fields cleared for the occasion. 1p. 4to. In good condition lightly aged worn and ruckled. Nicely printed in black over a halftone red map of Great Britain and Ireland. At head also in red: '1932 - 1933 - 1934 -1954' and at foot: '"Make the Skyways Britain's Highways'. The letter reads: 'Dear Sir/ Please accept my sincere thanks for all the help you have given to make our Air Display a success. Without your kind collaboration & that of all the numerous friends we meet on our journey round the country the work of conducting our Air Display campaign would not be possible A thousand thanks Yours very truly Alan. J. Cobham.' Also included is a newspaper cutting of large photograph of 'Some of the many spectators at yesterday's Aviation Day display given by Sir Alan Cobham at Cambridge.'
