Nel 2016 ricorre il trecentesimo anniversario della prima esecuzione a Francoforte dell'Oratorio "Der für die Sünde der Welt leidende und sterbende Jesus", noto comunemente con il nome di Brokes Passion, su testo composto dal poeta tedesco Barthold Heinrich Brockes (1680-1747) e musicato da Georg Philipp Telemann. Il giorno 2 aprile 1716, data in cui per la prima volta venne ascoltato l'Oratorio, ha un significato decisivo per la storia della musica. I suoni visionari concepiti da Telemann per la Passione hanno infatti influenzato la storia della musica tedesca per oltre un secolo. Il testo composto da Brockes, di potenza assoluta, rappresenta una delle meditazioni più profonde mai scritte sul dramma della passione di Cristo. La prima traduzione italiana del testo della Brockes Passion, a cura di Quirino Principe, e la sua pubblicazione in un libro, sono parti fondamentali di un progetto pluriennale dedicato alla Passione.
