"Als Gründer und Leiter des Wiener Volkskonservatoriums, als Konzertdirektor, Chormeister und Dirigent verschiedener Wiener Chöre war er einer der bedeutendsten österreichischen Gesangspädagogen seiner Zeit. Seit 1933 Prof. an der Musikhochschule, leitete er 1938-45 und 1956-68 den Chor der Wiener Sängerknaben. Grossmann komponierte Chöre, Lieder, Sonaten und eine Symphonie" (DBE).
