Prima edizione. Questi opuscula ripercorrono i temi trattati da Aristotele nella “Meteorologia”, opera di ampio respiro dedicata non solo al tempo ma a tutti i principali fenomeni fisici osservati all’epoca. Da Platone Aristotele eredita un profondo interesse per le leggi della fisica, che tratta estensivamente in quest’opera. Per spiegare una di queste (la quarta, l’ultima trattata nell’opera) l’autore di serve di una metafora medica: compare per la prima volta l’illustrazione di una forcipe dentistica (come osservato da M. Il libro propone la traduzione, con testo a fronte di due trattati del diciassettesimo secolo, edizione del 1708: "Wegweiser" di Anonimo, manuale e testo-base per lo studio della musica e per imparare a suonare l'organo, della seconda metà del XVII; "Ars Cantandi" di Giacomo Carissimi, manuale di teoria musicale e canto corale, è l'unico trattato teorico-pratico del musicista, diffuso nella Germania Meridionale da allievi di Carissimi, che hanno effettuato la traduzione dell'originale in tedesco gotico. La traduzione è accompagnata da una prefazione delle autrici e da note critiche, che evidenziano le difficoltà e le scelte operate nel corso della traduzione, anche attraverso la collazione con altre edizioni esistenti. La pubblicazione è arricchita da una ricerca sulla vita e le opere del compositore marinese, da una nota di approfondimento musicale, e da cinquantacinque tavole in riproduzione originale di preamboli, versetti, toccate e fughe, negli otto toni ecclesiastici. Il testo è di interesse filologico-musicale per coloro che vogliono approfondire lo studio della prassi esecutiva musicale del barocco e dell'opera di Giacomo Carissimi.

Prüfung und Besprechung im KW ergebenst vorzulegen [...]". - Der Sohn des Komponisten Rudolph Niemann studierte in Leipzig Komposition bei Humperdinck und Reinecke und Musikwissenschaft bei Hugo Riemann. Nach seiner Promotion zunächst als Musikschriftsteller tätig, verfaßte er u. a. Biographien von Brahms und Sibelius und arbeitete als Musikkritiker für Leipziger Zeitungen. Später widmete er sich zunehmend - ab 1917 nahezu ausschließlich - der Komposition, wirkte aber auch als Pianist. - Mit schwarzem Trauerrand.
