In entrambe le lettere al verso della seconda carta l'indirizzo del destinatario. (Lettera del 4 febbraio 1831: «[…] Mi fece gran piacere sentendo […] che siete bastantemente ben stabilito e molto apprezzato a questa R. Corte. Mi dispiace che il Suo° professore sia venuto a Parigi in un tempo ove i concerti sono oltremodo diminuiti, e la musica (soprattutto le arti) zoppica, ne si guadagna un soldo. […] Fui, il 29 scorso, nominato Membro dell'Istituto di Francia. Codesta nomina sebbene non sia molto lucrativa, pure fa molt'onore, essendo questo Corpo uno de più illustri d'Europa. […] Io che sono un povero artista ho ancora più ragione d'essere fiero? […]». Correcting the spelling of the names of the bassoonist Frédéric Berr and the cellist Auguste-Joseph Franchomme on the payroll of the royal orchestra: "Je sousigné Directeur de la Musique du Roi, déclare que les noms de Mrs. Berr et Franchomme doivent être incrits sur les états de payement orthographié, comme ci-dessus. et non Beer, et franchaume [...]". - Ferdinando Paër was born in Parma into a family of Austrian descent. His first opera "Circe" premiered during the Venice carnival of 1792. Other operas quickly followed, and Paër rose to fame in Italy and throughout Europe. In 1797 he was appointed music director of the Kärtnerthortheater in Vienna; in 1802 followed his appointment as composer to the court theatre in Dresden. His opera "Leonore" (1804) is based on the same story as Beethoven's "Fidelio", which premiered in 1805. Beethoven held Paër in high regard. Napoleon discovered him in Dresden and offered him a royal salary in Paris. There, in 1809, he celebrated his biggest operatic success with "Agnese". Paër's career continued during the Restoration, culminating in his appointment as director of the royal orchestra in 1832. Although his compositions are rarely performed today, Ferdinando Paër had a deep influence on the following generation of composers, such as Berlioz, Chopin and Liszt, who studied composition under him. - On stationery with lithographed letterhead of the "Musique du Roi". Paër is no longer a member of the jury of the "Académie des Beaux-Arts", where Beauregard's niece intends to apply: "Je ne doute pas que votre chére niece Mdlle Jourdan (la quelle m'a presenté ce matin votre lettre) obtiendra le premier prix de solfège au prochain examen vu son talent, et vu le bon succés qu'elle a obtenu l'année passée. Mais je m'empresse de vous faire savoir que je ne suis pas convoquer pour son examen comme jury [...]". - Somewhat creased.

To a friend, offering two tickets for a forthcoming Academy conference on 2 May, pointing out that there will be a large crowd in attendance, which is why he only succeeded in obtaining gallery seats rather than for the parterre: "Je prends la liberté de vous offrir, ci jointe, deux billets pour la Séance actuelle des cinq accademies qui aurez lieu mardi 2 Mai prochain. Comme elle sera très nombreuse, je n'ai pu obtenir que deux billets de Gallerie du Nord; et point de Parterre [...]". - On headed stationery of the Musique du Roi. With a note regarding the former collector, donor, and possible recipient on the reverse: "donné par M. Millet". Traces of former mounting on reverse; small tears along the centrefold, partly rebacked with a strip of paper; slightly creased.

Toronto: The Cumberland Press. Good. 1988. Privately Published Limited Edition. Paperback. Signed and numbered 74/100 by Neil Peart inside back cover. "And now it was all over. I didn't want to replay it all or relive it again but man- will someone hurry up and figure out a way to slow the good times down But no- even African Time can't make a day last one minute longer." -p 201. Describes his African travel experiences during September of 1987. Neil Peart 1952-2020 was the renowned drummer and main lyricist of the internationally acclaimed Canadian rock band Rush which he joined in 1974. He dedicated this book to his then wife Jacqueline and daughter Selena both of whom left the world prematurely and tragically in the 1990s causing Peart to take a prolonged timeout from his musical career. Rush tribute website Cygnus-X1 suggests this to be one of several books/travelogues authored and privately published by Peart during the 1980's a full decade before he released his first novel. Apparently these books were all produced in very limited quantities and only gifted to friends and family thus rarely found. 205 5 pp. Bibliography. No place: R.A. Saalfield 1882. Softcover. Fair. First edition. Folio. Single bifolium with a single sheet insert making six pages. Notched and worn along the fold from once being bound within an album nearly separated at the fold dampstaining edgewear foxing and offsetting complete with all content present and legible but a fair only copy though its dismal appearance does aesthetically coincide with its grim subject matter. For voice and piano. Plate imprint "Passed within the gates ajar. -3." The cover is quite misleading perhaps intentionally displaying the text "Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Funeral March by F. Chopin" implying that this piece presents the words of Longfellow set to Frédéric Chopin's famous funeral march from his Piano Sonata No. 2. Underneath this the real title is shown and above we see "In Memoriam" as this song was written for and about Longfellow's passing with the opening line "He is gone our noblest poet" and the date of his death printed above the music "March 24 1882." OCLC locates only two holdings of an edition published by Philip P. Armstrong in the same year this edition published by R.A. Saalfield is unrecorded and both appear equally scarce in the trade. For voice and piano. Plate number 13792. The rear cover features short samples of "Valik" "Polka-Caprice" "Arabesque" and "Intermezzo." This is Cora Decker Sargent's most beloved song and was performed at the Proms in England on September 28 1900. OCLC locates only two holdings and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade. G. La rubrica "Canzoni da leggere" ha portato per la prima volta la cosiddetta musica leggera sulla prima pagina di un quotidiano nazionale, commentando decine di canzoni per lo più rimaste nascoste tra le pieghe della storia. La competenza di Andrea Pedrinelli e il coraggio del direttore di Avvenire Marco Tarquinio hanno permesso un lungo viaggio alla scoperta o riscoperta di autori fondamentali, innovatori, che dagli anni Trenta del Novecento fino ai giorni nostri hanno saputo cantare attraverso il troppo sottovalutato pop l'anima dell'uomo, i suoi valori, e persino la storia d'Italia, compresi i suoi lati oscuri.

La canzone a Milano. Dalle origini ai giorni nostri
brossura Ottobre 1935, la leggenda vuole che in una sola notte Giovanni D'Anzi componga Madonina, atto ufficiale di nascita della canzone milanese. La storia però comincia prima, tra canti popolari e filastrocche, e questo volume la percorre tutta, dalle musiche di strada fino ai rapper di oggi. Caratteristica principale della canzone milanese è quella di mescolare diversi generi di spettacolo come il varietà, il teatro, il cabaret, ma anche vari tipi di musica. Il pop e il rock si intrecciano con il jazz o con i canti della tradizione popolare e del dialetto. Un effervescente laboratorio da cui sono usciti autori come Enzo Jannacci e Giorgio Gaber o una leggenda vivente come Adriano Celentano. E prima di loro Milly, il Quartetto Cetra, Gorni Kramer, artisti di cultura sofisticata ma con un linguaggio che ha reso le loro canzoni patrimonio di tutti. E poi i grandi cantautori milanesi come Roberto Vecchioni ed Enrico Ruggeri. Ulteriore segno della vitalità della musica a Milano sono stati i grandi concerti: dai Beatles a Bob Marley, da Frank Sinatra a Bruce Springsteen fino a Vasco Rossi, "re di San Siro". Fotografie di interpreti noti e dimenticati, di concerti celebri e di esordi illustri, copertine di dischi, dal vinile al digitale, offrono un contrappunto visivo a una storia mai raccontata prima.
