Zilcken, who had supported the establishment of a concert hall in The Hague since 1851, to which he greatly looks forward, as he has long desired to visit the country: "C'est donc le 2 Février et quatre du même mois que j'aurai l'honneur de me présenter devant le public Hollandais, désir que j'ai depuis long temps et que bien des obstacles ont semblé rendre d'une réalisation difficile. Monsieur Zilcken voudra bien me rendre cette justice qu'à son premier appel et sans conditions pour ainsi dire [...] J'ai dit un oui très empressé voulant témoigner toute ma bonne volonté à répondre à l'appel de Monsieur Zilcken [...]" (Mont de Marson, 26 Jan. 1881). On mourning paper. With a few pencil annotations. Corresponding envelope adressed to E. Zilcken in The Hague, who was probably expected to forward the letter to a newspaper. - To a friend about his visit to Madame Hollander, the delivery of a piano by the instrument maker Pierre Erard (1794-1855), the work number of a Beethoven piece, and in anticipation of a meeting on Tuesday: "Je m'empresse de vous dire que je serai chez Mme Hollander Mardi 14 Avril avant dix heures. En enverra de chez Erard un piano demi queue. Le trio de Beethoven porte le numéro d'oeuvre 38. Ce mardi donc, en attendant le plaisir de vous voir, je vous prie d'agréer Monsieur tous mes sentiments très distingués [...]" (no place, "Jeudi"). - About his experience performing at the Trocadéro in Paris, which strikes him as a little intimidating, a fact he dreads to admit to the concert organiser Philbert Bréban: "Je n'ai pas non plus oublié que j'ai eu le plaisir de connaître Monsieur Breban au Trocadéro et mon souvenir m'est resté très sympathique [...] Je crains de lui paraître bien ingras envers cette belle salle du Trocadéro où on fait de si belle musique, et où j'ai eu moi même le bonheur [...] d'obtenir les plus précieux succès qu'un artiste puisse ambitionner! Mais il faut bien que je lui avoue qu'au point de vue spécial de mon instrument [...] cette admirable salle m'inspire malgré tout, une certaine terreur! [...]" (Mont de Marson, 11 April 1887). On stationery with embossed address. - The second envelope, addressed to E. Zilcken in The Hague, does not apparently correspond to any letter at hand. Some small rust stains; the correspondence card somewhat waterstained as well. With remnants of old labels torn off.

To Madame Duchanoy, his "dear colleague", thanking her for attending a concert together with her daughter: "Bien touché de votre affectueuse présence d'hier, Madame et chère collégue, et bien reconnaissant de toute la grâce bienveillante de votre chère fille. Elle a compris comme vous combien mon souvenir vous est resté fidèle et dévoué [...]". - The celebrated virtuoso Planté was hailed by his contemporaries as "God of the piano". Performing from age seven, he met giants like Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt, with whom he performed. Marcel Proust immortalized Planté in his "À la recherche du temps perdu". Hélas je ne puis courir après vous ... Je suis tenu au logis par un mal de gorge [...]". - On lithographed visiting card with mourning border. Well preserved.

From the time of Planté's retreat from the concert business in Mont-De-Marsan: four letters to a Madame concerning meetings and a recommendation to the musician and founder of the "Musical Union" John Ella, as well as the recommendation letter to Ella. - Planté writes that he had on the previous day met Countess Clary and responded to the Countess's wish with a heartfelt "Yes", describing the encounter as her having felt in presence of a true artist: "J'ai vu hier Madame la Comtesse Clary; un désir exprimé par elle me ferait faire l'impossible: vous ne serez donc pas étonnée que je lui aie dit oui de grand cœur [...]" (7 March 1869). - Arranging a meeting: "J'y puiserai des forces pour être serviable la semaine prochaine [...]" (n. p. o. d.). - Planté suffers from the flu and must postpone a meeting; he begs to tell a Mme Bapst that he will accept her invitation: "Permettez-moi donc de vous dire, par écrit, que Madame Bapst peut compter sur moi pour la soirée de Jeudi 22 [...]" (n. p. o. d.). - Forwarding the address of the family of the instrument maker Èrard, also proposing a recommendation letter to Ella, whom he calls the patron of all musicians in London: "Mr Ella est le patron de tous les artistes à Londres [...]" (22 Sept. 1870). In the recommendation letter Planté praises his student's qualities: "Je [...] me permets de signaler à votre précieux jugement artistique & recommander à votre puissante influence, une dame de mes éléves [...]" (Sept. 1870). - Two letters on mourning paper, all with some marginal flaws and traces of old mounting. One letter with blindstamped monogram, mounted to the recommendation letter.

Promosso e rappresentato tra gli altri dal Nuovo Canzoniere Italiano, dall'Almanacco Popolare, dalla Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, dal Canzoniere del Lazio, teorizzato da studiosi come Roberto Leydi, Gianni Bosio, Michele Straniero e Diego Carpitella, fu un movimento capace di conciliare ricerca etnomusicologica, istanze di protesta, tradizioni musicali, interpretazioni e reinvenzioni. Il revival italiano, però, non si è concluso con quello straordinario ventennio: contrariamente alla tesi dominante, continua a essere un fenomeno di grande dinamismo. In quest'opera monumentale Goffredo Plastino ha raccolto documenti, saggi, interviste, approfondimenti che riflettono la ricchezza, la complessità e le tante controversie di questa vicenda musicale e intellettuale. Citazione musicale autografa firmata dedicata all’amico Carlo De Ponti. Datata 30 settembre 1883, Sesto S. Giovanni.
“Un saluto affettuoso al caris.mo amico Sig. Carlo De Ponti e famiglia. Parole e musica come Dio vuole. P. Platania”. Seguono 11 battute di musica con incipit testuale “Spuma il bicchiere ve’ come brilla [...]”. In fine: “Ricordo di Sesto S. Giovanni 30 settembre 1883”. Autore di molta musica vocale e strumentale da camera, diresse il Conservatorio di Palermo e Napoli e per alcuni anni anche la celebre cappella del Duomo di Milano.

"Der Glaube an die Zukunft unseres deutschen Vaterlandes ist unerschütterlich, aber nur wirtschaftliche Gesundung kann die Grundlage des Wiederaufstiegs bilden. Nur ein zufriedenes Volk kann Werte schaffen, die uns einer neuen Zeit der Blüte entgegenführen. Dann wird auch die Kunst den ihr gebührenden Rang wieder einnehmen und das Gute, das im Menschen schlummert, wecken können. Das wird den Tod der Scheinkunst erzwingen, jener Geschäftigkeit, die mit dem Mäntelchen des Künstlerischen behängt, platten Zielen nachjagt und auf üble Instinkte rechnend, den gesunden Sinn unseres Volkes von innen heraus zu vernichten droht [...]". - Geschrieben als Beitrag für die von Friedrich Koslowsky im Berliner Eigenbrödler-Verlag herausgegebene Faksimile-Anthologie "Deutschlands Köpfe der Gegenwart über Deutschlands Zukunft" (1928). Inscribed By "Good Luck To My Friend Bill Todt Wallace A. Sabin" And Additionally Signed By 22 Cast Members Opposite The Players' List. Damp Staining To Covers And Bottom Edges Of Pp 21 To End. The Original Play Is Quite Scarce This 1934 Revival Edition Even More So It Is Not Known To Wikipedia Or The Sources Upon Which It Is Based. H. Morse Stephens 1857 -1919 Was An Historian And Professor Of History At The University Of California Berkeley Who Helped To Purchase The Bancroft Library And Who Worked To Build Archives Of California History The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake And World War I. He Was Educated At Haileybury College And Attended Balliol College Oxford University Where He Was Granted A B.A. In 1880 And An M.A. In 1892. He Was A Staff Lecturer On The Oxford University Extension System From 1892-1894 And Lecturer On Indian History At Cambridge Writing Also For The Academy The Daily Chronicle The Speaker And 'Acting As London Correspondent For The Statesman And The Calcutta Friend Of India. Stephens Immigrated To The United States In 1894 And Took The Position Of Professor At Cornell University In The Department Of History Where He Taught European History. In 1902 Stephens Went To The University Of California As Professor Of History And Director Of University Extension A Position He Held From 1902-1909. He Served As Dean Of The University Of California College Of Arts And Sciences From The Fall Of 1918 Until His Death. During His Time At Berkeley He Worked To Build The Bancroft Library's Collection Of Historical Materials With Special Success In The Area Of Spanish And Mexican History Now Known As The Bolton Collection. Stephens Was Involved With The Bohemian Club And Wrote The Script For St. Patrick At Tara The Main Grove Play Performed In 1909 At The Bohemian Grove. The Play Depicted Saint Patrick And His Interaction With Druids Chieftains And Kings Of Ireland. Stephens Was An Active Member Of The American Historical Association Serving As Its President In 1915. His Most Notable Contribution In The Aha However Was As A Member Of The Committee Of Seven Which In 1899 Produced The Report The Study Of History In Schools For The Aha And Which Influenced The Teaching Of History In American Schools For The Next 40 Years. Wallace Arthur Sabin 1869 -1937 Was A Composer And Organist Born In Culworth Northamptonshire England. In 1894 Or '95 Sabin Moved To San Francisco To Serve As Organist For The Congregations Of Temple Emanu-El And St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He Became A Fellow Of The American Guild Of Organists Ago In 1899. He Was President Of The San Francisco Chapter Of Ago From 1911 To 1913 Then Again From 1923 To 1926. In 1915 Sabin Was The Official Organist Of The Panama-Pacific International Exposition. In One Concert He Directed The 400-Voice Exposition Chorus While Playing Organ Accompaniment As Camille Saint-Saëns Conducted The 80-Member Orchestra. Sabin Set Various Parts Of The Jewish Service To Music And Is Published In Stark's Service Book. In 1920 With Edwin H. Lemare And Uda Waldrop He Helped Inaugurate The Bohemian Club's Outdoor Organ Austin Opus 913 Set Into The Main Stage At The Bohemian Grove. <br/> <br/> Bohemian Club hardcover
