Il testo, in p. pergamena antica, tit. oro su tassello al dorso (picc. manc. al bordo super.), tagli rossi, pp. (8),XIX,344; (4),366,XXIV,(2). Ornano i 3 frontespizi una grande e bella vignetta inc. in rame e nel primo volume è contenuto un ritratto di Vittorio Amedeo III Re di Sardegna, cui e' dedicata l'opera, inc. in rame da I.B. Stagnon. L'Atlante, in p. pergamena moderna, tit. oro su tassello al dorso, tagli rossi, pp. (4),XIV di descrizione, 1 c.b., raccoglie 92 bellissime tavole disegnate da Francesco Peiroleri (è questa la grafia del nome adottato dal celebre erborista pittore nella prima tavola e nelle sue lettere all’Allioni) e incise in rame da suo figlio Pietro. La tavola n. 1 è dedicata alla nomenclatura botanica ed alla classificazione propria di Allioni; le altre contengono 228 disegni di piante nuove o rare. "Edizione originale e unica" di questa celebrata opera. Cfr. Nissen BBI 18 - Pritzel,108 - Brunet,I,190. Solo nel 1° vol. pesante alone su 6 cc. (cm. 8x10) e lieve su altre, altrimenti esemplare ben conservato. Il vol. di tavole in ottimo stato. "Carlo Allioni (Torino 1728-1804), conseguita la laurea in medicina nel 1747, si dedicò all'esercizio della professione e a studi scientifici, medici e botanici, proseguiti per tutta la vita. Gli studi botanici culminarono nell'opera massima "Flora Pedemontana", con la descriz. di circa 3000 piante, molte delle quali descritte per la prima volta. La poderosa opera, tuttora fondamentale per lo studio della flora piemontese, poneva l'A. tra i massimi botanici d'Europa, procurandogli l'appellativo di "Linneo Piemontese”". Così Diz. Lugduni juxta exemplar Parisiis, è Typographia Regia, 1719, volumi 3, in-4, legatura coeva in mezza pergamena con titolo calligrafato ai dorsi, piatti in cartone decorato in bicromia, tagli spruzzati di rosso, pp. (6), XXXII, (16), 695, (10), 58, da 329 a 592, da 593 a 695, (11), 58. Bella vignetta (giardino botanico con loggiato) incisa alla carta A1 del tomo I, eleganti fregi al frontespizio e come testata, finali, capilettera in xilografia. Agli altri 2 tomi bel frontespizio calcografico ripetuto (angiolini in volo che sorreggono cartiglio con titolo inscritto sovrastanti veduta prospettica di giardino botanico) e complessive 314 tavole incise dal pittore Claude Aubriet (1665-1742), che aveva accompagnato Tournefort nel viaggio in Medio Oriente nel 1700-1702. Esemplare a cui mancano le prime 173 tavole (relative alle classi I-VII "de herbis et suffruticibus"). I tomi II e III, invece di contenere come previsto solo le tavole, ripetono in parte anche il testo già contenuto nel I. Minuscoli fori di tarlo ai dorsi, che interessano anche i margini bianchi di alcune cc. del vol. 1°; privo della prima carta bianca; qualche macchia e cerniera del piatto ant. in parte staccata. Dorso macchiato al vol. 3°. Si tratta della traduzione latina degli "Elemens de Botanique" (1694). Ex libris: Francisci Lucchini Philosophis et Medicinis Doctoris Romani.

In-8°, pp. XXX, 406, 15, legatura in tela posteriore del secolo sucessivo, titolo in oro al dorso. La Flora Segusiensisfu redatta in lingua latina nel 1805. Con tale impresa Re raccoglieva degnamente l’eredità di una prestigiosa tradizione che, inaugurata da Carlo Allioni con la celebre Flora Pedemontana, sive enumeratio stirpium indigenarum Pedemontii, era stata proseguita sia da Balbis, che nel 1801 dava alle stampe un Elenco delle piante crescenti ne’ contorni di Torino, sia da Carlo Antonio Ludovico Bellardi, autore di numerose addizioni alla Flora di Allioni. Con la Flora di Re il genere toccava uno dei suoi vertici, essendovi annoverate ben 1682 specie. A testimonianza del valore duraturo dell’opera di Re, nel 1881, per iniziativa della sezione di Susa del Club alpino italiano, la Flora fu riproposta in traduzione italiana curata da Beniamino Caso, integrandolo con numerose specie botaniche individuate successivamente, elencate in particolare nel testo inedito di Francesco Negri dedicato alla flora spontanea dei dintorni di Susa e del Cenisio. Di ogni specie elencata (che ammontano a 1682) sono specificati anche i luoghi di reperimento.

This is the third English local flora, after Ray (Cambridge) and Sibthorp (Oxford), and the first in English. Although the BM (NH) copy has coloured plates, and Henry calls for them, this book is usually found with uncoloured plates, coloured copies an extremely rare in commerce. "A work described by one authority as 'almost a model as a county flora'... Abbot's carefully prepared Flora bedfordiensis is written entirely in English, except for the first two words of the title and the Linnaean botanical names of the plants. It lists 1325 flowering plants and cryptogams. A brief description of each species is followed by the general place of growth, and in the case of some rare plants, the precise locality". (Henry).
