Si Émile est le théoricien de l'école, on doit à Nanine aidée par son frère Aimé Paris (1798-1866), la partie pratique de la méthode. Le projet du trio est d'écrire une méthode qui puisse être apprise sans aucune éducation musicale, créant ainsi un enseignement populaire de la musique.
