Some minor erosion to upper wrapper along spine; Very Good.</p> <p>Religious order of service or liturgical celebration for recently arrived immigrants to the United States and those in the church who welcome and support them published by the Presbyterian Board of Publication and Sabbath School Work. The service comprised several hymns here presented with lyrics and music including My Country ‘Tis of Thee America readings from the Bible singing by the school brief addresses and reports a benediction and most notably the “Superintendent’s Words.â€</p> <p>The latter feature is a formal question and answer dialogue between the “Leader†and the “School†on such themes immigration the needs of “foreigners†colportage Sabbath-school work and fundraising to support this outreach: “Rally Day shall be ‘exclusively set aside as a day for special presentation of the great work among foreigners in America…†p7 Half tone illustrations show immigrant children and a “Religious service in the Bohemian language on the immigration pier.â€</p> unknown

Pamphlet; removed without wrappers; foxing and staining Good.</p> <p>Presumably unrecorded prospectus for the Newark Wesleyan Institute in Newark New Jersey. The illustrated title-page shows a vignette of the school. The organization of the school was to be accomplished via joint-stock capital and the terms of the scheme are explained. Prospective investors were informed on the final page that the school would be furnished and finished by September 1848.</p> <p>No copies extant in OCLC or at AAS. Not in Felcone. A small handful of related publications appear in OCLC all are rare.</p> unknown

A Romance of Bar—U Ranch has 16 chapters each written by a different student in the senior class of Excelsior High School in or near Schenectady. This is primarily a tale of events at a cattle ranch somewhere in the American West pp3–18. Events takes a more romantic turn as the characters travel back east to New York City and on to London and Europe. After an attempt to sail home by submarine! the hero returns to New York back to his beloved pp19–24. No copies in OCLC.</p> unknown

Information on the beginning and development of Cleveland area. Discusses the canal era the beginning and growth of businesses and the city due to production of coal iron steel rubber oil ships at Cuyahoga railroads oil refining etc. Cleveland continues to progress and grow with population increasing dramatically. By 1937 Cleveland leads the country in the manufacture of chemicals astronomical instruments nuts and bolts vacuum cleaners and other hardware. It possesses the largest sandstone quarries in the world. Cleveland is the chief shipbuilding center on the Great Lakes and is the birthplace of the American automobile. Information on improvements and technology in Cleveland is followed by information and history of the Case School of Applied Science and what is now need by the school in order to develop it into an even greater institution of applied science. Neat pen inscription on recto of first leaf: 'My dear brother-artist Sassoon and dear Madame Sassoon this is just from Stansmore and myself to wish you a Merrie Christmas and a Happy New Year signed R Macaulay Stevenson Kirkcudbright Yuletide 1934'. According to one authority Sassoon settled in Kirkcudbright about 1920 living firstly in a studio in Castle Street then at 3 and 5 High Street and using a hut at Carrick shore as a holiday house and studio.
