"Gore Vidal's 1968 novel was the beginning of Myra mania. With no advance publicity the highly satirical story of a man-hatiNg transsexual quickly became a sensational Bestseller. Those who understood it were amused; those who dIdn't were shocked. On the surface Myra Breckinridge is an outrageous story about a man-hating transsexual. At its core however Myra is sophisticated satire with Hollywood as the vehicle for making fun of just about every American convention." . First Edition. Hard Cover. Boston Little Brown, hardcover
