New edition. Joseph Thouvenin the Elder 1791-1834 was the leading French binder of the Restoration era. This binding was probably executed at the time of the book's publication 1823 as the signature stamp is in Thouvenin's later style. His earlier works were stamp-signed 'Relie Par Thouvenin'. After 1820 the signature stamp consisted only of his surname as in the present volume. In this edition Les Saisons which was first published in 1769 is followed by fugitive poems stories and 'fables orientales'. The poet soldier and philosopher Jean-Francois Marquis de Saint-Lambert 1716-1803 was a friend of Voltaire and Diderot. Janet et Cotelle unknown
