Bu olaylarin etkisiyle Sehriyar, kendi ülkesinde, her gün bir kizla evlenip ertesi gün onu idam ettirir olmus; bu yüzden vezirin güzel, bilgili ve akilli kizi Sehrazat, hükümdarla evlenip ya bu ugurda yasamini yitirmeye ya da kurtulup ülkenin tüm kadinlarini da bu beladan kurtarmaya karar vermis; babasini da buna ikna etmis. O gece gerdege girmeden önce, hükümdardan son dilek olarak kizkardesi Dünyazat'i görmek istemis; Dünyazat da ondan son bir dilekte bulunmus: 'Ne olursun ablacigim, o güzel masallarindan birini son defa bana anlat!'.
