réf. 59060Miller complains about an award ceremony: The program had been endless painful.I belive Jophn's was the last prize. I wanted to simply hand it to him and congratulate him. I said something like "Now that everyone else has said absolutely all there is to say please accept congratulations for yet another award for your great work and let us hurry home." Miller is probably talking about an award given to John Huston who directed the movie "The Misfits" based on Miller's script. unknown

réf. 51-4369Paris: La veuve Chéreau circa 1780. Title page for the suite. 21.3 x 28.6 cm. . Tear in top margin 3 cm.Reference: Charles Auffret Une Famille d'Artistes Brestois au xviiie siècle: Les Ozanne 1891 pp. 73-74 no. XI.XI MARINES ET PAYSAGES. J .Coiny. Leur popostérité est éteinte. Hope-Jones see brief biography below including his appearance in an M.R. See Google "Death on an Oban-bound Train" for a comprehensive article on the incident. William Hope-Jones evokes references on Google such as in court for bathing "without sufficient dress" or the following AI spiel: "William Hope-Jones known as "Hojo" at Eton was a math teacher and housemaster at Eton College noted for his eccentricity. He was a King's Scholar 1900-1906 Assistant Master 1907-1950 and Housemaster 1924-1939. Hope-Jones is also remembered for his loud singing and for writing the humorous song "National Anthem of the Ancient Britons" also known as "Woad" or "The Woad Ode" according to Wikipedia. According to RBH the last such certificate was auctioned in 2007.The narrow gauge Death Valley Railroad was built in 1914 as a branch line of the Pacific Coast Borax Company to service its new mines at Ryan. The narrow gauge railroad hauled Borax from the mines in the vicinity of Ryan to the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad 20 miles away at Death Valley Junction. The upper part of the line required extensive grading and many high trestles. The railroad scheduled a single daily-except-monday mixed train which traveled across the desert at 15 miles per hour. The railroad ceased regular operation in 1928 after the opening of the large Borax mine near Boron California. An attempt was made to operate the line as a tourist railroad but without success Pacific Coast Borax Company unknown
