1934rif. 11180Eric Partridge 1934. 1st edition. Good/No Jacket. Hard covers no dust jacket Inscribed by the editor on ffep. to Lord Nuffield then a Baronet. A remarkable document prepared by Spenser while serving in Ireland; none too complimentary in parts it constitutes an eye-witness account of the state of late 16th century Ireland in the form of a dialogue between Eudox and Iren. The language is of Shakespearian vintage and is thus a little obscure in places. About a third of the book is taken up with the editor’s Commentary with extensive end-notes. Eric Partridge hardcover
