2014ref. SBBIH-6B2SNXSTLXY6University College London Librar 2014. paperback. Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing fanning inscriptions margin notes yellowing staining on edge or cover or pages bumps scuffs etc etc sometimes multiple of these. It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order at least not without checking with us first although we don't always have time to check. We aim to dispatch prompty the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only. 1919ref. 100444New York December 17 1919. 1919. Very good. - Over 40 words typed on 8-3/8 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide "Dodd Mead & Company" watermarked stationery with an attached blank leaf. Replying to the American lecture manager James B. Pond Edward H. Dodd writes that "I shall be glad to do my part on the Reception Committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Otto H. Kahn to welcome M. Maeterlinck." Signed "Edward Dodd". Folded for mailing with a perforation at top left. Very good. The president and subsequently chairman of the board of Dodd Mead & Company publishers Edward H. Dodd d. 1965 joined the publishing firm founded by his grandfather Moses Dodd in 1839. He was elected president of the company in 1916 and subsequently chairman in 1928. He remained a director of the company following his retirement in 1938. During his tenure the company published works by such luminaries as Rupert Brooke A.E. Housman Max Beerbohm Anatole FranceG.K. Chesterton Stephen Leacock and Agatha Christie. James B. Pond the American impresario and lecture agent who headed the J.B. Pond Lyceum Bureau brought the great Belgian poet Maurice Maeterlinck to America for a series of lectures. The first lecture took place at Carnegie hall on January 2nd 1920. Unfortunately Maeterlinck failed to carry out his intention to lecture in English because of his labored "phonetic" English. He declared his intention to continue his lectures in French and have the translation read by another person. As a result the lecture tour was a failure and lawsuits ensued on both sides. New York, December 17, 1919.

He accepts that it is likely that the Revue will ask Poulenc to correct the proof. He also requests that the Revue will let his firm have 'votre épreuve corrigée et bonne à tirer afin d'avoir entre les mains la version définitive au cas où le manuscrit comporterait des fautes ou des changements d'écriture comme c'est probable.' In a postscript he states that the 'titre définitive est Valse-improvisation sur le nom de Bach et non plus Valse-scherzo' On the letterhead of Rouart, Lerolle & Cie, Editeurs de Musique, Paris. 18 November 1932. unknown
