A novel based on the segregated all-Black 761st Tank Battalion known as the Black Panthers who fought in World War II under General Patton. The title was taken from the divisive name given to the battalion championed by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The author was one of the white officers who served with the battalion. According 761st soldier Floyd Dade "We had 22 black officers and I was in the only battalion that had a white officer David J. Williams on the line and he thought he was black.
