A tight and generally clean and attractive copy. very good Large Paper Copy of this important work on Egyptian natural history with 102 copper-engraved plates of plants and animals. The first volume covers primarily Egyptian animals with 25 plates many folding. The second volume with commentary by Joannes Veslingius covers Egyptian plants with 77 plates. The wide margins make this a very handsome copy. Alpini was an Italian physician and botanist who described many plants previously unknown to European science many of which are depicted here in the fine engravings.
