1775ref. C93670London / Londres: No Publisher Noted 1775. New Edition. Hardcover Hardcover. Very Good. New Edition 8vo 12x18 cms di 188pp & 4-192 pp . 2 volumes in one. Handsome recent half brown morocco and marbled boards binding. Very good indeed and clean apart from some worming at edges and at inner gutter but no loss of text. Although the text was presented as a translation by Jean Trichard the work is indeed by Baron d'Holbach. This history of superstition is a merciless indictment against the persecutions and political and religious tyrannies whatever they were which caused terror to reign through fear and fanaticism as well as through political ambition. The place of publication was probably Amsterdam rather than London No Publisher Noted hardcover

ref. 172871930s. Manuscript animation strip book. Graphite. Twenty-nine stapled leaves with a drawing to the recto of each some with narrative text in ink to verso. Very good condition with an old punch hole to the upper right corner the first and last three pages loose and minor wear to the extremities. The drawings remain clean and bright. Along then comes 'villain of the piece no.2 Slippery Stoat' who has similar plans. A fight ensues between the two during which Whiskers' father comes to his rescue. The manuscript appears to be a complete story in itself although could potentially have continued for another page or two. 1820ref. 4569Paris: Chez Martinet 1820. A lovely copy of this scarce cartoon. Unsigned but the initials LL. are printed to the lower right of the plate. We are unable to find a caricaturist with those initials Leander always signed his work. A gentleman is bowing to a couple approaching him. The lady tips her parasol. All are dressed as dandies. Attractive hand colouring. To the bottom left of the pate it is written in ink "Chez Martinet". A clean print with just a little marking / darkening to the sheet. Tipped onto a slightly larger piece of stiff card. A very nice item. Plate is 32cm x 24cm. The backing card is 35.5cm x 30cm. First edition. .

It is a book of greatly detailed and colorful Japanese musha-e prints depicting various historical we presume and legendary events and exploits from the past including Samurai battles and representing or depicting we understand the "floating world." Each print is accompanied by an account or story in Japanese and supposedly many prints are from fine Japanese artists in the 19th century. Oblong decorated fabric over boards 7" x 15 1/4" cord-tied with title in gilt. There are 60 prints on 60 leaves with versos blank plus title and contents pages. Previous owner's information written in ink on title page "Richard D. Robinson / Seoul Korea / January '46. Some wear to cover corners; mild soiling; title page has a small corner chip near the binding. The color prints are in vg to fine condition. A search on the internet gives all kinds of information on these kind of story-prints. Shobunsha unknown
