The production faced difficulties due to disagreements between Ludlam and Vaccaro leading Ludlam to depart from the group create his own theatrical troupe called The Ridiculous Theatrical Company and stage a separate version of the play under the alternate title "When Queens Collide" which debuted several months after Vaccaro's production.
