Best.-Nr. 6New York City: Stackpole Editions 1939. 8vo 669 p. original black cloth stamped in silver. First edition and the first true unexpurgated edition of Mein Kampf published in the United States. Stackpole's issue of Mein Kampf triggered a major legal battle with Houghton Mifflin which had acquired copyright in 1933. Stackpole argued that because Hitler was technically "stateless" having renounced his Austrian citizenship in 1925 before obtaining German citizenship in 1932 he was not covered by U.S. copyright law. Under this theory Stackpole claimed the text was in the public domain and promoted their edition on the basis that they would pay no royalties to Hitler from AI overview. Stackpole eventually lost the lawsuit and was ordered to destroy their remaining inventory after having sold around 12000 copies. As a result the Stackpole edition is uncommon on the market. This is a nice copy with two scuff marks to cloth to front board boards very slightly bowed light soiling to page ends some light scuffing to front page ends; front endpaper lightly soiled; some minor rounding to corners but in all an uncommonly nice copy of a truly scarce item rarely found in this condition. Stackpole Editions hardcover
1934Best.-Nr. ABE-1730317776400Nouvelles Editions Latines 1934. Paris: Nouvelles Editions Latines 1934. 8vo 685 i with Tables des Matieres at rear handsomely rebound in red buckram without original wraps. First French edition of Mein Kampf illegally published by right wing eccentric and Nazi sympathizer Fernand Sorlot who published the work without having first secured publishing rights. When Hitler discovered that an unauthorized version of Mein Kampf had been published in France his lawyers sued forcing Sorlot to withdraw the book from the market. Hitler's lawsuit against Sorlot was driven more out of an attempt to conceal his plans for war in Europe than copyright infringement the 1925 and 1926 German editions of Mein Kampf contained numerous references to France as "the irreconcilable mortal enemy" and "the mortal enemy of our nation". Hitler and his advisors feared that publication of the work in France would alert the French people to their designs on the country and Europe at large. This edition was preceded by 25 copies hors de commerce numbered I - XXV followed by this trade edition unnumbered but likely printed in a small run with this copy marked Exemplaire No. 918 in pencil on the limitation page. This is a VG copy overall with crimping to spine tips with minor creasing to upper corners of text block throughout; small stain to title page with light soiling to page ends but a sound copy overall of a scarce book. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Nouvelles Editions Latines Hardcover

Best.-Nr. 0092-25Wien NSDAP Gaupropagandaamt 1939. 26 x 44 5 cm. Gefalt. In gutem Zustand. 1925Best.-Nr. 168014Munich: Franz Eher 1925-27. Hitler signals his genocidal intent First editions first printings of both volumes of perhaps the most infamous and reviled book of the 20th century a work nevertheless of enormous historical and geopolitical significance; from the library of an early Nazi activist. Part autobiography part manifesto Hitler espouses with neither equivocation nor restraint his extreme anti-Semitism racial prejudice and commitment to violence to achieve political aims. Germany's need for Lebensraum to recapture territories lost at Versailles and purge itself of all internal enemies are all spelled out in detail refuting any arguments that the coming evils of the Nazi regime could not be foreseen. The first volume is in the second issue binding the first having a white spine. Provenance: the half-title of vol. I has the ownership stamp of Doctor Richard Dingeldey of 37 Franz Josefstrasse Munich. An early Nazi party member Dingeldey hosted Hitler for dinner at his Franz Josefstrasse home in October 1923 Ullrich p. 830. He remained active in the party. "Nazi activist Richard Dingeldey. delivered a standard speech on Luther's convictions to numerous Nazi gatherings in the fall of 1925 claiming that 'the life of Luther is our goal'" Hastings p. 162. He then worked in Munich at the pharmaceutical and chemical company Wilhelm Kathe AG. He worked for the board of health under the later Nazi regime and was a leader of their young doctor medical association Jungärzte beim NS-Ärztebund. 2 vols octavo. Frontispiece photographic portrait of Hitler to vol. I. Original red cloth spines and front covers lettered in white top edges red. A few instances of marginal crosses and ticks in vol.
