1948rif. 8593Washington DC: United States Army /Recruiting Publicity Bureau 1948. First Edition. Original wraps. Very Good. 5 3/4 X 8 3/4 Inches. 30 PP. "Pursuits which the women of yesterday could only dream about become the opportunities of today and the career of tomorrow - in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force" Original 1948 US Army & Air Force recruitment booklet for women. Includes the important two-page listing of "Jobs to be done by Army and Air Force Women" as well as the military fashion expectations. While the list of military occupations for women is lengthy all of the jobs are either clerical or behind the scenes work such as dental technicians artists interpreters bakers chemists etc. This was a huge step forward for women in the U.S. Military but smacks of sexism throughout. "San Francisco Recruiting Main station" stamped on rear cover. Light creasing but a clean copy overall. United States Army /Recruiting Publicity Bureau unknown

Edmond Detaille. »
