Hardcover 8vo. in leather backed patterned paper boards with gilt title and fleur-de-lis decoration on spine. Varying paginations. Monuments volume contains engravings of famous buildings and scenes about Paris while the Costumes volume contains beautiful hand colored plates of modes in French fashion through the centuries. Very good. Lacking the fifth volume. Loss to spine ends of two volumes. Rubbing to boards. Bound with current endpapers. Ownership markings to endpapers and advertisements for the set pasted in. Text is foxed yet readable but the volumes of plates remain clean and bright. A history of Paris from establishment by the Parisii to the time of publication by noted French historian Jacques-Antoine Dulaure with two volumes of thorough illustrations demonstrating Parisian architecture and costume. Con 85 tavole fuori testo finemente incise in rame ciascuna protetta da velina nei volumi di testo e 5 grandi carte topografiche a colori e più volte ripiegate nell'atlante. Solida ed elegante legatura coeva uniforme in mezza pelle con punte dorsi a nervi con titoli e ricchi fregi in oro ed a secco. Piatti tagli e sguardie marmorizzati. Esemplare in eccellente stato di conservazione pressoché esente da fioriture. Seconda edizione aumentata rispetto all'originale nel testo e nelle tavole. Non comune soprattutto quando completa dell'atlante e come nel presente esemplare munita di una legatura assai decorativa. Cfr. Brunet II 873. Bella legatura coeva in mezzo marocchino dorsi lisci con filetti titoli ed eleganti fregi romantici in oro. Esemplare in eccellente stato di conservazione pressoché esente da fioriture. Non è presente come in tutti gli esemplari a noi conosciuti la carta topografica annunciata nel frontespizio che verosimilmente veniva venduta separatamente. Edizione originale non comune. Cfr.
