1807Best.-Nr. 21581London 1807. No one could capture an exuberant crowd like Rowlandson here in an etching that the lurid street entertainments and hubbub of the notorious Bartholomew Fair which would later be shut down by the City of London because of its unruliness. The crowd is as a part of the entertainment as the professional entertainers with their side-show like booths. The print proper of ours is essentially clean the colors bright. Minor soiling affects the lower margin area. The other sides of ours have been trimmed to the edge of the illustration and thus there are no margins other than the lower one. Ours has been mounted onto a paper close in color the that of the print and that provides some illusion of margin. unknown
