Lovecraft (1890 - 1937) è morto sconosciuto e in miseria, ma oggi è considerato un artista fondamentale nel genere horror essendo l'autore di capolavori quali "Il colore venuto dallo spazio", "L'orrore di Dunwich", "La maschera di Innsmouth", "Il modello di Pickman", "Il richiamo di Cthulhu", "Colui che sussurrava nel buio" e "Alle montagne della follia". La fama di Lovecraft ha però cominciato a diffondersi solo a partire dagli anni Sessanta, quando le sue opere hanno iniziato a venire adattate per il cinema e la televisione. In seguito, numerose sono state anche le pellicole che, pur senza basarsi su nessuna storia in particolare, hanno ripreso lo spirito, l'atmosfera e i contenuti caratteristici di questo scrittore. Nel presente volume viene definita, catalogata e analizzata proprio l'intera produzione di film e telefilm dell'orrore tratti o anche solo ispirati da Lovecraft, con un corredo di foto.
2015ill., br. Lovecraft è lo scrittore che più di ogni altro, con i suoi racconti legati al ciclo dei "Miti di Cthulhu", ha influenzato gli occultisti del XX secolo. In essi si narra del Culto dei Grandi Vecchi, antiche Divinità primordiali, e dei riti magici compiuti per evocarli, che provengono da arcani libri proibiti come il Necronomicon - risalenti a epoche remote... Se taluni considerano Lovecraft solamente come uno scrittore talentuoso e dalla fertile fantasia, altri lo ritengono invece una sorta di "Mago inconscio", le cui opere letterarie sono state influenzate in modo inconsapevole da Potenti Entità... Vi è tuttavia una terza possibilità... che emerge analizzando alcuni aspetti occulti e poco conosciuti della vita di Lovecraft e i numerosi indizi sparsi nelle sue opere... Tra gli argomenti: Il risveglio della magia, I nomi morti, Tradizioni dimenticate, Il Culto Segreto...
