No dust jacket, possibly as published. 247pp. This book presents 200 images of contemporary glass chosen from 25 years of New Glass Review which is the annual publication of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Each issue documents the work of 100 artists, which are selected by a jury from an average of about 900 artist submissions. The book is organised into five sections devoted to vessels, sculptures, flat/painted glass, installations/architectural glass, and design and is a superb reference work on the most important contemporary glass and associated artists over the period.

Carboncino e matita misure: mm 165 x 225 Pittore italiano del quale si hanno poche notizie, fu attivo soprattutto nel Comasco a metà dell’Ottocento. Nel 1857 affrescò il battistero nella Basilica del SS. Crocifisso in Como; altre sue opere si trovano nel battistero di S. Fedele a Como e nelle chiese parrocchiali di Casasco, Pellio Superiore e Castiglione d’Intelvi. A Nesso nella Chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, nell’area presbiterale si trovano dipinti raffiguranti la Consegna delle chiavi a san Pietro, la Disputa di san Paolo nell’Areopago e la Trinità con gli Evangelisti realizzati nel 1864. In questo foglio, che reca la tracce di quadratura per definire le posizione reciproche delle figure, vengono rappresentati tre putti a figura intera. Sono colti stanti in pose ed atteggiamenti differenti; quello di sinistra di profilo ma con il busto e il volto rivolti verso lo spettatore, diversi ripensamenti dell'artista alla ricerca dell'esatta posizione del braccio destro forse pensato per tenere uno strumento. Il putto centrale è colto frontalmente, con la gamba sinistra avanti rispetto l'altra, fissa lo spettatore e sembra, con il gesto della mano sinistra protesa in avanti, lo stia invitando. Il putto a destra è di profilo, molti sono i ripensamenti di braccia e volto, sembra tenere tra le mani un flauto. Disegno eseguito su cartoncino ocra. Ottimo stato di conservazione.

Nel foglio viene rappresentata una figura stante, colta frontalmente e piegata leggermente in avanti. L'uomo non è indagato nel volto, lasciato allo stato di abbozzo, l'autore si concentra sullo studio dei movimenti della veste. Questa tunica avvolge completamente il soggetto e cade pesante sul suo corpo; il braccio sinistro piegato alla vita regge parte della veste lasciando così visibili le caviglie e i piedi nudi. Attraverso una fitta intersezione di linee si vengono a creare giochi chiaroscurali che rendono tangibile il tessuto. La figura nella sua maestosa ieraticità sembra una scultura di un filosofo o un magistrato romano. Disegno eseguito su carta bianca spessa. Ottimo stato di conservazione.

Wrappers lightly stained and with adhesive trace of an old price tag; else good or better. Catalog of the Cologne video studio Oppenheim which was founded in October 1974 as one of the first venues for the then new art genre. The institution quickly developed into a showcase and production site for the first generation of video artists in West Germany. The gallery also founded by Ingrid Oppenheim and attached to the studio represented artists such as Sigmar Polke Katharina Sieverding Ulrike Rosenbach Imi Knoebel and Klaus vom Bruch. Alongside Gerry Schum and Ursula Wevers Oppenheim became one of the central protagonists who significantly advanced the establishment of video art. Her video collection is now part of the Kunstmuseum Bonn. Photograph with a blind "Vandamm / New York" stamp on the bottom left of the recto and a "Vandamm Studio" stamp on the verso and a label on the verso announcing Kruger in the leading role of the Broadway play "The Boundary Line" by playwright Dana Burnet which premiered at the 48th Street Theatre on February 5 1930 and ran for 37 performances closing in March 1930. The photograph was likely commissioned by the Theatre Guild which contracted Vandamm Studios to photograph all of their productions beginning in 1928. Kruger began his career as a Broadway matinee idol in the 1920s and 1930s before establishing a niche in feature films as the charming villain such as in Alfred Hitchcock's 1942 film "Saboteur" Joseph M. Newman's "711 Ocean Drive" and Douglas Sirk's 1954 film "Magnificent Obsession." Kruger starred in over 80 films between 1915 and 1964 as well as multiple television appearances in the 1950s and 1960s. The husband and wife photography team of Florence and Tommy Vandamm married in 1918 emigrated from London to New York in the 1920s due to declining business in their portrait studio following World War I. By 1928 Vandamm Studio began to dominate the field in New York after being contracted by the Theatre Guild to photograph all of their productions. Florence took responsibility for most of the portrait work while Tommy documented the stage work. The studio was closed by Florence in 1961. Vandamm Studio's work was known for their carefully planned lighting and composition and their attention to detail. 8 x 10 inches.
