Il libro è stato creato in risposta alle immagini utilizzate dai media per discutere il tema della migrazione che a nostro avviso erano sensazionalistiche allarmistiche e non dedicavano alle persone il tempo e la considerazione che meritavano. Abbiamo voluto affrontare il tema da una prospettiva più pacata utilizzando la fotografia di ritratto di medio formato come mezzo per incontrare faccia a faccia le persone al centro della crisi."
