Crane 1845-1915 was an English artist and book illustrator. He is considered to be the most influential and among the most prolific children's book creators of his generation. Evans 1826-1905 was a wood-engraver and printer who specialized in full-color printing which in part because of his work became popular in the mid-19th century. Despite her success as an early female journalist and novelist Linton was known for her strong anti-feminist stance asserting she would have rather have been the wife of a famous man rather than famous herself see Wikipedia. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven browning and fading to the covers. Some soiling spotting and foxing to the covers. Faint owner's signature across the top front cover. Heavy chipping and creasing to the wrappers along the spine with loss at the head and tail. Corners and fore edges of the wrappers chipped with some loss. Minor toning in the interior. J.B.
