réf. 40003101Nanjing 1969. Red vinyl wrappers gold stamped spine and cover Hanzi Chinese textcolor frontispiece of Mao with red LIN Biao slogan essay2 essays:30878309 pp.7 x 10.3 cm. firm & solid dated postscript. FIRST RARE EDITION . . . A VERY EARLY "LITTLE RED BOOK" JUNE 1969 . . . WITH CULTURAL REVOLUTION INSTRUCTIONS TO . . THE HONG WEI BING RED GUARDS . . BY CHAIRMAN MAO MARSHALL LIN . . . . WITH MAO'S ESSAY: "SUPREME INSTRUCTIONS" . . . . . TOGETHER WITH: . . THREE VERY RARE LIN BIAO WRITINGS: . . . RED CALLIGRAPHY UNDER THE COLOR MAO FRONTISPIECE . INCLUDING LIN BIAO'S MOST FAMOUS MAO SLOGAN . . . REPORT AT THE 9TH NATIONAL CONGRESS . . OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA APRIL 1969 . . . . MARSHAL LIN'S ESSAY: "INSTRUCTIONS FROM VICE CHAIRMAN LIN" . . ISSUED JUNE 1969 DURING THE EARLY PERIOD OF THE . . WENHUA DA GEMING GREAT CULTURAL REVOLUTION . . . COMMONLY CARRIED BOOK BY HONG WEI BING RED GUARDS . . IN MASS RALLIES STREET MARCHES & STREET DEMONSTRATIONS . . This is a famous book with Chairman Mao's "SUPREME INSTRUCTIONS" directed to the "Hong Wei Bing" "Red Guards" who were instructed to carry out Mao's ideas on how to activate the Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution. . The red vinyl cover of this book has the general title in gold: "WEIDA DE MAO ZEDONG SIXIANG WANSUI": "LONG LIVE THE THOUGHT OF MAO ZEDONG" . The work has three essays in all. The first and last are two versions of his famous "SUPREME INSTRUCTIONS" showing the corrected version followed by the original version. . THE THREE ESSAYS: . a. "ZUI GAO ZHI SHI": "SUPREME INSTRUCTIONS" By Mao Zedong the corrected version with 31 chapters 308p. followed by the original version at the end in 27 chapters 309p. . b. "ZAI ZHONGGUO GONGCHANDANG DI JIU CI QUANGUO DAIBIAO DAHUI SHANG DE BAOGAO": REPORT AT THE 9TH NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA" By LIN Biao Report on 1 April 1969 adopted on 14 April 1969. . c. "IN FU ZHUXI ZHISHI" "INSTRUCTIONS FROM VICE CHAIRMAN LIN" 27 chapters 309p. with introductory page stating April 14 1969. . d. The other is the most famous of all LIN Biao slogans in red calligraphic handwriting by LIN printed under the Mao color photo frontispiece. It reads: . "Du Mao zhuxí de shu: Read Chairman Mao's books Ting Mao zhuxí de hua: Listen to Chairman Mao's words Zhao Mao zhuxí de zhishì banshì. Act according to Chairman . Mao's instructions Zuo Mao zhuxi de hao zhanshì: And be a good soldier of . Chairman Mao" . It is noteworthy to say here that in September 1971 after LIN was labeled a traitor Mao's official orders were to expunge everything LIN Biao from the public including posters monuments books and to expunge everything Lin from the historic record. It was commonplace after September 1971 for Red Guards & others to either pull out and discard anything LIN slogans writings photos & what not to deface his name or otherwise deface & remove him from books magazines and documents. . To that end this RARE example still contains all of the LIN essays and slogans intact. A RARITY now. . FORMAT: This book has three separate title pages each on stiff stock red ink titles with a green rule box outline. . ABOUT LIN BIAO: After LIN's death in 1971 by official order his name was officially ordered expunged from all books and public places. Most of these frontispieces and LIN's essays were pulled from books of this period since LIN and his family were labeled as traitors & "counter-revolutionary forces" by the Communist Party receiving official blame from the Chinese government. . LACK OF COLOPHONS IN EARLY CULTURAL REVOLUTION PERIOD BOOKS: . It was commonplace for books of the early part of the WENHUA DA GEMING CULTURAL REVOLUTION ca. 1966 not to have proper or traditional colophons printed on the last page. In some cases like this example a 'postscript' was provided in place it was often called "Bian hou fu ji" "postscript" see below: . BIAN HOU FU JI: POSTSCRIPT: . We translate the postscript into English: "This "Long live the great Mao Zedong Thought" is an addendum to "Long live the great Mao Zedong Thought" Beijing edition for internal study only. Qing criticized and corrected the shortcomings and mistakes in our orchestration work. June 1969." . RARITY: This example complete with the RARE LIN Biao essays slogans and writings is seldom found intact. The slogan had a white paper covering pasted to cover it up. This was gently removed with a very minor bit of loss to the vivid red color else a truly excellent example. . RARE FIRST EDITION: This the RARE June 1969 Nanjing edition. . Color photos are posted to our website. . CONDITION: The book is bound in the original publisher's red vinyl covers with gold stamped titles on the front & spine A very clean and solid example with a minimal bit of usual signs of minor wear. The book is solidly bound and firm. . There is typical and often usual minor dampness to first & last end paper & fly leaves frontispiece & title pages with a very tiny nibble to the fist 19 pages on the leading margin edge text unaffected. Otherwise text is very clean. There is a lightly penned previous owner's name inside the first fly leaf along with his penned date on the lower edge: "70.4.5" April 5 1970. . By and large a very much better than average item complete as issued. Most copies lack all references to LIN Biao. Seldom found complete intact with all LIN related items. .
