Rare ceramic preciousnesses reproduced with all their bright polychromy a very bibliographical jewel. This book is enriched by the classification and dating of the varied porcelain decorated with armorial bearings from the period of the Portuguese empire. It gives us some idea of the epic nature of the discoveries and the difficulty and duration of the approximately 2100 voyages made to the East from 1497 to 1850. We are shown techniques and evolution of Chinese porcelain throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties. The total number of pieces carried over a period of approximately 350 years is calculated between 15 and 18 thousand million. Ten kings owned pieces or services decorated with their coat of arms. Of 123 noblemen 32 were born or lived in Brazil 30 in the East India-Malaca-Macau 4 in Africa 6 were of foreigh descendants and 16 were church dignitaries while innumerable pieces belong to religious orders.
