ref. 73418England: Apple Records/EMI 1969. Recorded music Long-playing record. 1969 pressing with matrices ending -2/-1 issued in stereo with green and white 'Apple' labels with black text dark green rim text in fully-laminated non-flipback sleeve with 'Apple' logo aligned/justified with the track listing for side one record without the song 'Her Majesty' listed on the label. 1969 1st press; printed with dark green 'Apple Records' rim text the 'apple' picture itself can vary in shade and is not by itself an accurate confirmation of a light or dark green label- the rim text is the defining issue. Also present are the texts 'An EMI Recording' and 'Mfd. In UK'. Cover is in excellent shape with only light handling and creases minor ring wear. Record shows several light marks and hairlines some fingernail scuffs but nothing serious. Housed in a plain paper EMI 'Patents No.' company inner sleeve. Play tested using a lightweight pickup this runs through well with light background noise/crackle. No needle sticks or jumps/skips. Very good. Abbey Road released on 26th September 1969 was the penultimate Beatles' album but was their last to be recorded April and July-Aug 1969. Let It Be whose recording sessions dated back to Feb. 1968 would be the last album completed before the band's break-up in April 1970. The Abbey Road sessions were far more convivial than those for Let It Be/Get back and produced a collection of songs now widely regarded as one of the Beatles' best and one of the greatest albums of all time. George Harrison's two tracks 'Something' and 'Here Comes the Sun' are considered among the best he wrote for the group. The ditty 'Her Majesty' appears as a hidden track after 'The End' and 14 seconds of silence. Some later releases of the album included the song on the track listing. England: Apple Records/EMI, 1969 unknown
