2003ref. 30341Johannesburg: Goodman Gallery Editions 2003. Hardcover. SIGNED. First edition first printing. Particulars is a body of photographs rooted in Goldblatt's time spent as a tailor. "Of my life experiences one that was crucial was that of working in my father's shop where I acquired a consciousness of bodily particulars that was technical rather than subjective." The images are of just this bodily particulars: Bejeweled hands street-worn feet crossed legs and overweight knees fill the frame and surprisingly reveal a great deal about the individuals as much as a facial portrait could. Gorgeous production from the dioxin- and chlorine-free paper to the hand-binding to the 5-color b&w printing. 2004 winner of the book award at the Rencontres d'Arles photography festival in France. Photographs by David Goldblatt 1930-2018; essay by Ingrid de Kok. SIGNED BY GOLDBLATT and dated "10.8.07;" no inscription. From an unnumbered edition limited to 400 trade copies 200 of which were issued with a dust jacket. Unpaginated 60 pages; 27 full-page photographic plates; 14 x 15 inches.
