Researched and authored by Czech art historian Jiri Siblik the volume examines Cezanne's structural transition away from Impressionism toward the geometric planes and compositional rhythms that established the basis of modern art. Printing production was carried out in Prague by the state art publishing house ODEON on heavy matte art paper preserving 66 screenless continuous-tone collotype reproductions alongside 16 full-page color plates. The collotype method achieves deep tonal range capturing charcoal linework graphite hatching and transparent watercolor washes without half-tone screening dots. Jiri Siblik was a Czech art historian and curator known for studies of European master draftsmen including monographs on Michelangelo and Raphael. English-language editorial direction was led by Susan Perry and Pamela Espeland with translation from the German by Brigitte Edstrom and book design by Milan Hegar. Editorial essays place Cezanne's private working methods his working periods in Aix-en-Provence and his artistic dialogues with Emile Zola and Camille Pissarro. 3M Books hardcover
