'Confound it Mr. Dentist you have pulled out two good teeth and have left the two bad ones' Robert Macaire aside 'The devil' aloud 'No doubt and for good reasons there is always time to extract the bad ones ; as to the others they would have decayed and caused you pain. A false set will never make you suffer and it is of a better kind ; people wear nothing but that now'.From a series of lithographs that show the character Robert Macaire in a variety of guises. Macaire originally a character in a play is a swindler who takes on a number of professions such as journalist librarian and so on always ruthlessly pursuing personal gain. In this print Macaire is in the guise of a dentist. CONDITION : There is some discolouration at the bottom of the sheet and a little in the title area. Some toning to the edges of the sheet. unknown
