1994ref. 131j2819Canada: Kamloops Art Gallery. Very Good No dust jacket as issued. First Edition. Paperback. Catalogue of the exhibition "E.J. Hughes: The Vast and Beautiful Interior" 22 September to 6 November 1994 curated by Jann L.M. Bailey for the Kamloops Art Gallery. "Edward John Hughes was born in North Vancouver in 1913 and attended the Vancouver School of Art for six years. This exhibition focuses on his lesser-known works of the interior of B.C. Lesser-known perhaps because Canadians tend to view B.C. from a coastal perspective. Patricia Salmon Hughes's long-time friend and biographer notes that while most people know Hughes for his images of coastal B.C. in the decade between 1956 and 1965 he produced an almost equal number of non-coastal works. The works in this exhibition date from 1931 to 1994 with the most being produced between 1956 and the present." - Foreword. 72 semi-glossy pages tastefully illustrated in colour with considerable text a chronology of Mr. Hughes and a list of works in the exhibition. Clean bright tight and unmarked with light wear. A wonderful memento of this exceptionally gifted Canadian artist. 19.6 x 27.1 cm.; Paintings; 8vo . 1994. 1895497132 . Kamloops Art Gallery paperback
