1930rif. 48871039205616Uitgevers-maatschappij de Hooge Brug 1930. Softcover. Very good with minor aging. 13.25 × 13.125 inches. Wendingen which apparently translates to “twists and turns” was a Dutch architecture and art magazine. Each issue was devoted to a specific theme—and this one was all about Isotypes. The text and cover are by Peter Alma but there’s an international showing of related work from Germany Spain and the Soviet Union. Now there are two further things to consider: 1. While this is a rather legendary issue of a legendary magazine it’s also showing contemporary Isotypes and graphics from when they were actually being made. So these were new ideas being introduced while they were being ideated. And 2. All of the display and ornamental matter throughout were printed from type-high rules. Hendrikus Th. Wijdeveld was creating letters and shapes from just straight lines essentially found in the print shop. Actually “found” might be an overstatement. He were clearly constructing and cutting rules to size. It’s a remarkable feat and shows what kind of letters can be made with the most extreme self-imposed limitations. A great copy of a scarce item. Very good with minor aging Uitgevers-maatschappij de Hooge Brug paperback

Wrappers slightly nicked and soiled one upper wrapper detached at upper brad but very good. A studio rerun of a the 16 April "First Rough Draft With Dialogue from Novel" of this adaptation to the screen of Hichens' 1933 novel accompanied by a first run of the "Third Draft Script." The first draft is credited exclusively to Alfred Hitchcock and his collaborator wife Alma Reville; the third draft is identified as by James Bridie based on an adaptation by Alama Reville. According to one source Selznick had acquired the film rights to the novel prior to its publication but submission of a preliminary script in 1934 to the Breen Office resulted in assurances that it would not pass muster according to the PCA. So the project was shelved until Selznick returned to it in 1946. It is clear that at that time scripts from the 1934 effort as well as from an adaptation attempted at MGM were consulted. In December the "Final Shooting Script" was reached after interim contributions by Ben Hecht. The final shooting script is credited solely to David O. Selznick but acknowledges dependence on the adaptation by Alma Reville. Final screen credit for the screenplay fell to Selznick and neither Hecht's nor Birdie's contributions were credited. Hitchcock directed and Gregory Peck Ann Todd Charles Laughton Ethel Barrymore In a role that earned an Oscar nomination and Louis Jourdan starred among others and a 29 December 1947 premiere brought to a conclusion the long and tangled series of attempts to bring Hichens' novel to the screen. These paintings along with new work are presented here along with essays by LA MOCA curator Alma Ruiz and Helene Cixous.Alexandra Grant received a MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts in San Francisco in 2000. She had a solo exhibition at Gallery 16:1 in Santa Monica in 2004 and has been in numerous group shows across the country. Her exhibition in L.A.
