This charming 16mo of 48 pages is a fine example of the outrageous number of Peter Rabbit books that traded on Beatrix Potter's work and name. This particular title is scarce in this exceptional condition retaining the original pictorial dust wrapper. Inscription on front free endpaper dated 1934. The dust wrapper has a few smudges on the rear panel. Else both book and dust wrapper are fine. hardcover

1923réf. 290638Zarephath New Jersey 1923. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. A book of poetry by the first female bishop in the United States and founder of the racist Methodist sect the Pillar of Fire Church. Under Alma White's direction in the 1920's and 30's the Pillar of Fire Church formed a close public bond with the KKK with the aim to liberate white Protestant women while also oppressing religious and racial minorities even regularly hosting cross burning ceremonies with the Klan on Pillar of Fire properties and giving speeches at Klan events promoting white supremacy. The introduction to this volume is quite bizarre as the author focuses on her husband's conversion to the "unscriptural and Satanic" "new cult" of the Pentecostals and their subsequent estrangement. This long-form poem in rhyming iambic pentameter details their breakup in about 55 pages of text with small text illustrations plates reproducing hymns written by the author and a section of reproduced correspondence between the two at the rear. Truly a messy breakup. Red cloth with gilt lettering. OCLC notes ten institutional holdings. Very Good binding. unknown

Very Good/Very Good. :: A Hollywood ROMANCE :: --That Hit the Front Page-- :: Along one road was the man she loved along the other the success she wanted. A scandal that shook the town! :: Bound in publisher's cornflower-blue cloth front cover bears title and author in black. Title author and publisher lettered in black upon spine. Top of text-block red. Duodecimo 7 5/8 x 5 1/4 inches; 193 x 133 millimeters. 256 pages. Condition: Very Good. Spine is cocked and lightly faded. Minimal rubbing at crown and foot and along bottom of boards light soiling. Dust jacket is Very Good. There is chipping at the top and bottom of spine and wrinkling upon the front panel along the hinge that wraps to the inner panel. At the bottom of the spine there was some lifting of the print that appears to have been professionally nicely mended - I almost didn't notice it was there it is so finely done. It includes tales of the early days in Medonte and also personal recollections of childhood and youth." - Foreword. 56 stapled pages in blue card covers. Black and white reproductions of archival photos. Some marginal fading to covers otherwise a tidy copy tight clean and unmarked with moderate wear. A sound example of this uncommon and very informative genealogical reference. ; 8vo . The Little Print Shop paperback
