1994réf. 26411New York: Purgatory Pie Press 1994. Fine. Number 100. Signed by the book artists. An old record that has been re-produced by the Purgatory Pie Press with a new label printed on both sides: "Roberta 'N' Rob Smith - Lame!" and "Roberta 'N' Rob Smith - Worse!" This "random re-issue" pokes fun at bad records with lots of typos slogans and gimmicks. The words 'Lame / Stale' and 'Worse / Fukt-Fi' have been scratched into the record. The record sleeve is printed with information about the fictitious Roberta N Bob fan club and is also signed by them. The plastic bag that covers the sleeve has several stickers which further emphasize the poor record quality "30 years after . New British Infestation" "This record waz wuns mor popular than it is NOW" etc. The label sleeve and stickers are letterpress printed. PRI/010213. Purgatory Pie Press unknown books

Album is near fine with some edgewear and toning. An autograph album compiled by Brooklyn New York native Esther Blackoff in June of 1922 while attending P.S. 109. The album begins with "Labor Conquers Everything" written in glitter followed by a page with her name and the date also written in glitter. From the notes it appears this album was created as a remembrance album for their graduation as most of the messages are signed "your sister grad-u-8." The messages are happy notes full of well wishes congratulations and memories from her school mates. One message reads "may your life be as bright as Belmont Ave. on Thursday night;" another reads "I wish you all the luck that God will grant you." The album is completely full with 83 pages of notes from classmates and teachers. One note was written later in 1937 by Esther's daughter Marion and reads "may your life be ---- never be ---- always be ---- never be xxxxx your daughter Marion Blackoff Cooper." A nice autograph album detailing a young woman's school days in the 1920s. hardcover books
1930réf. 413180Ypsilanti Michigan / Virginia / California 1930. Softcover. Very Good. Oblong octavo measuring 8" x 6". 59pp. String-tied black leather over stiff paper boards. Contains 218 gelatin silver black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 2.5" x 1.5" and 4.5" x 2.75" with captions with additional ephemera from 1924 to 1930. Tears and chips with some pages detached but present thus very good with near fine photographs with tiny tears and creases. The photo album contains a plethora of photographs featuring Esther Davis and her adventures. Most pictures are of the three Davis daughters; Alice Rachel and Esther either posed or candid shots with their friends taken at Michigan State Normal College in Ypsilanti Michigan. Esther Davis is seen dancing and smiling with all her glee club members standing outside wearing fancy clothing or costumes and graduating high school and college. Esther Davis lived in the Bessie Leach Priddy House a sorority at Michigan State Normal College. While most of the pictures are from Michigan some are labeled from places in Virginia and California. Two of which feature photos of Mary Pickford on the set of Little Annie Rooney which was being filmed in West Hollywood California. Pickford was 33 at the time of filming but played a spry and determined young Irish girl. The movie became one of the highest grossing films of 1925. Pickford is seen smiling with the cast in one photo and then posing in the other. Both photos are fine with "Mary Pickford in 'Annie Roonie" written on the bottom edge. An interesting collection of photographs from a young woman during 1924 to 1930 documenting her adventures with friends and family completing her education and her encounter with Mary Pickford. unknown books

Minor cover soiling and wear include a couple of modest bumps. No Jacket. INSCRIBED on half-title by Lovejoy "To Louise Lovejoy Saunders --- E. Lovejoy" -- perhaps someone related to her second and final husband from who she was divorced in 1920. An account of relief efforts by American Women's Hospitals among the refugees in or from the former Ottoman Empire after World War I. Lovejoy who graduated from the Medical School at the University of Oregon in 1894 had been serving as General Director of American Women's Hospitals for fourteen years 1919-1933 when this revised edition was published. We don't know what revisions or updates were made in this uncommon revised edition but the length of the book increased to 344 pages from 302 in the earlier edition. Some of the increased length may have come from reformatting but we spotted at least a few post-1927 dates in the last few chapters. Macmillan hardcover books
