1728réf. 162501728 Huguenot BIBLE Psalms of David Beza & Clement Marot French Music Chant Theodore Beza was one of the most prolific French Protestants during the Reformation. His biblical translations were extremely important and popular throughout Europe especially among Calvinists. They helped shape many theological scholars who came after him. In 1544 John Calvin asked Beza to complete a collection of the Psalms of David metered and translated into French. Each Psalm in this 1728 printing of the 'Pseaumes de David' is set to music in the form of chant and features the French texts of both Beza and 16th-century Renaissance poet Clement Marot. Hugar on title page of the Book of Common Prayer. Manuscript notes on verso of title page record of General Thomas Pickney's family captured from his family Bible by F. R. In 1789 the American Episcopal church adopted its first version of the Book of Common Prayer, which was used from 1790 until a major revision was completed in 1892. During this time, several editions of the Book of Common Prayer were published with corrections and other minor changes, of which this 1793 edition was the first. No priority has been established for the several 1793 Gaine varieties and variants. Because of format differences with those found in the record, we think that this is an unrecorded variant (closely allied to: Evans/Shipton & Mooney 26043; Griffiths 1793:11).
