Clark Travels in the New South I:185: "Roberts.had traveled over the state as a lawyer 1841-60 and after the war had settled down and taught law. This is a worth-while account somewhat historical and somewhat exaggerated of the the resources and advantages of Texas by one who was familiar with the state." Howes R-344.
