2015New English Original cloth bdg. Oblong 4to. (24 x 30 cm). In English and Turkish. 200 p., color and b/w photographs. The power of emptiness: Talking with stones in historical Armenia.= Boslugun gücü: Tarihi Ermenistan'da taslarla konusmak. The photographs taken in Turkey by São Paulo (Brazil) born photographer Norair Chahinian strike viewers in a number of different ways. First through their witnessing of life in various regions of Anatolia 'from the outside', by someone who has come all the way from across the world, thousands of kilometers afar. But more importantly, through their depiction 'from within' of the return of an Armenian to his roots in Maras, Urfa, Iskenderun, as he visits the land of his family after a gigantic lapse of one hundred years. Norair Chahinian was born in Brazil as the child of a family that had fallen victim to the Committee of Union and Progress' genocidal politics against Armenians during the final era of the Ottoman Empire. His grandmothers and grandfathers had lost their families during those days of catastrophe, took refuge in Aleppo, Syria, under dire circumstances and had migrated to Brazil, South America. This quest brought the photographer to Turkey where he knew no one, did not speak the language; where he was familiar neither with the climate nor the ways of the people. But in no way as a tourist. He came here determined to build a bridge between the past and present, as the last link of a family who was the victim and witness of the catastrophe experienced one hundred years ago but had managed to live, survive and build a new life on the other side of the ocean. 2015New English Paperback. Pbo. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English. 272 p., ills. Hasan Cemal is a journalist, not a historian. And this book was not written as a historical study. This book is, in a sense, Hasan Cemal's personal journey regarding 1915 and the Armenian Question. Hasan Cemal had first written in 1999, in his book titled 'No One Should Get Mad, I Wrote Myself' about how his political views had changed over time and which sources had nurtured this change, or in other words, about his 'political autobiography', and in this book, he had also subjected himself to genuine self-criticism. In this book, as Hasan Cemal recounts in a self-critical style how his position regarding 1915 has changed over the years, he also tries with his usual sincerity, to shed light on both the 'lost history' and the 'invented history' of Turkey.
2012New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (31 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 479 p., color and b/w ills., folding maps. 2012 Declaration. The seized properties of Armenian foundations in Istanbul.= 2012 Beyannamesi. Istanbul Ermeni vakiflarinin el konan mülkleri. Project by Mehmet Polatel, Nora Mildanoglu, Özgür Leman Eren, Mehmet Atilgan. Love, teh profound mystery of Creation, lies at the source of the universal principles of natural law. Every human being is bestowed with human dignity. And this human dignity means that every human being, needs and is entitled to as a human right, to live in a state governed by justice. The Organization of the State should afford the individual the right to assembly in order to actualize his or her human rights at more advanced levels; and the right to established legal personalities such as associations or foundations; and the only grounds for any restriction over these rights and freedoms can be the principle of 'not harming others'. The 1936 Declaration was used as a cover-up for the persecution of minority foundations by the Republic of Turkey. The 1913 and 1936 declarations, prepared by all minority foundations upon the request of the state, are officially treated as 'declarations of properties'; whereas teh 2012 Declaration -the most comprehensive balance sheet produced so far of the loss sufferred by Armenian foundations in Istanbul, in a chain of injustice that has continued for almost a century- is a 'declaration of unlawful seizures'. The story told in this book is not the story of structures made of stone or concrete, but the story of human beings. The problem is not about 'properties', but an issue of the sustainability of cultural existence. We know that, as long as it fails to face up to the mindset that alienates the ancient peoples of this country and refuses to see them as equal citizens, Turkey's efforts towards democratization will fall short. With the hope and wish that this work will contribute to transformation.

2010New English Original bdg. HC. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English. [xii], 523 p. The genocide of truth continues. But facts tell the real story. Sukru Server Aya has taken on a thankless but extremely valuable task. Generations of scholars, politicians, and internet bloggers will make use of his work, often not citing the source. Others those who do not want what Aya has uncovered ever to be seen will excoriate him. Heedless of both supporters and detractors, Aya has continued to collect and analyze the documents and assertions that underlie the Armenian Question. He may not ever be properly thanked for his labors, but those of us who appreciate his discoveries know their great value. -Justin A. McCarthy- Justin McCarthy is Professor of History and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of Louisville. Among his works on related subjects: Muslims and Minorities (1983), Death and Exile (1995), The Ottoman Turks (1997), The Ottoman Peoples and End of Empire (2001), The Armenian Rebellion at Van (2006), and The Turk in America (2010). Although clearly not a trained and scholarly historian, Sukru Server Aya has offered over many years a monumental service in collecting documents unmistakably illustrating the exaggerated, inconsistent statements about the treatment of the Ottoman Government, and Turks generally, of Armenians during WWI. The evidence here is of a prejudicial, one-sided and venomous anti-Turkish stance characteristic of a time when the defeated Turks were fair game. Aya's collection of the words of influential Armenian advocates cannot be ignored and yet it has been and most likely will continue to be. Yet if the world listens to the facts Aya so passionately presents, a step forward will have been taken to interrupt the continuous cycle of murderous Insatiable rage based on the events of a century ago. -Sam S. Baskett-. ARMENIANS Deportation, 1915 Ottoman Empire World War 1 Union and Progress Party (Ittihad ve Terakki Cemiyeti) Armenian question.

2015New English Paperback. Pbo. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In Turkish. 392 p. A breath of Istanbul. Within these pages, we experience Istanbul life, the "you and me" that is this place's heartbeat. Around us swirl the amazing colors of many rainbows and dozens of scents. Here the Istanbulites-Armenian, Greek, Kurdish, Jew, Alawite, Christian, the rich, the poor, the conservative, the marginal-all bear witness to Istanbul's many-faceted selves. This novel of hope is a small reflection of what some people call "utopia" and is foremost a story about living in harmony. Lose yourself in Istanbul's streets while wandering with me as we explore you, me, our lives, our loves, our unfulfilled feelings and wishes, our dreams, fears, hopes, loneliness, struggles, and the daily ups and downs of our fellow millennials. The meaning of Istanbul, Turkey, and the world is "you" for me. They are all "me" and "us." That's the only reality I believe in. Nothing-no work of art or music-will ever be able to fill and nourish your soul as Istanbul does. No scents will ever burn themselves into your memories like the ones in Istanbul. No wisdom except that which you find here will ever seem that real(istic) to you. I have taken a deep breath of IItanbul. All of its life-affirming air I have to share with you has been exhaled into these pages.

2005New English Paperback. Pbo. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English . [xviii], 368 p. This is the story of a violent collision among three "heroic" national movements: those of the Armenians, the French; and the Turks of the Ottoman Empire. The setting for this epic was "Cilicia and vicinity", as I termed it in my Ph. D. dissertation, on which this work is based, located at the very northeastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea, in the Turkish province of Adana and others that now border on Syria, that went on during the years between 1918 and 1922. The Turkish victory in this struggle marked the end of the first "war of national liberation" in the twentieth century and put an eighty-year hold on the Armenian national movement for lack of a territorial base from which to operate.
