Armenian architects of Istanbul in the Era of Westernization.= Batililasan Istanbul'un Ermeni mimarlari. In the era of Westernization, also known as Ottoman Modernization, that took place throughout the entire 19th century and in the early 20th century, transformed the physical appearance of Istanbul. First and foremost the Balians, but also other Armenian architects such as Ohannes Serverian, Mgrdich Charkian, Bedros Nemtze, Mihran Azarian, Hovsep Aznavur, Levon Gureghian, the brothers Aram and Isaac Karakash, Kegham Kavafian, Yetvart Terziyan, Andon and Garabed Tulbendjian, who in earlier periods received their initial training within the industry, but later also graduated from schools in European countries, and ultimately graduated from the School of Fine Arts, played a great role in this transformation. This book is prepared to introduce the Armenian architects who contributed to Istanbul's architectural richness with their works and is the first attempt of its kind. We hope that it will inspire the academic studies in the field to be carried out in the future. The books published in Turkish-English and Armenian-English includes 6 articles written by Edhem Eldem, Afife Batur, Ahmet Ersoy, Alyson Wharton, Elmon Hançer and Lora Baytar; each article has a different approach to the architecture of Istanbul. Moreover, in the book there are more than 100 photos of the architectural structures built by the Armenian architects.

2014New English Paperback. Pbo. Roy. 8vo. (23,5 x 16 cm). In English. 424 p. Ills. "The Extermination of Armenians in the Diarbekir Region is a study based largely on neglected sources from Turkish and Armenian archives covering the years 1908 to 1915. It discusses the rise of the "Committee of Union and Progress, "the nascent Kurdish nationalist movement, and the annihilation of the Ottoman Armenian population. The deportation and massacre of Armenians was a complex process with central authorities in Istanbul, regional governors, and local elites competing for control. Consequently, decision-making, deportations, assimilation policies, the seizure of Armenian properties as well as the settlement of Kurdish and other Muslim groups appear in a new light. Rather than following a strict preconceived plan, Ottoman authorities regularly implemented ill-defined policies. Often they followed suggestions from governors. Consequently, local officials had a more radicalizing impact on overall anti-Armenian policies than hitherto assumed. Many others, however, offered determined resistance. Neither the "Committee of Union and Progress" nor the Ottoman bureaucracy had unified in persecuting Armenians. The book does not present the developments in the region in a dichotomous perspective but emphasizes complexities beyond the governing paradigms and opens new avenues for research and discussion".

2018New English Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (23 x 16 cm). In English. Ills. 172 p. The sounds of silence 5: Kayseri's Armenians speak. The fifth book of the "Sounds of Silence" series has been published with the support of Consulate General of Sweden and Consulate General of Netherlands. Kayseri's Armenians Speak, is a product of the oral history project carried out since 2011 by Hrant Dink Foundation. The Sounds of Silence - 5: Kayseri's Armenians Speak, which compiles 10 out of the 28 interviews. The book contains, in addition to the oral history interviews conducted, the introduction by the historian Dr. Mehmet Polatel and the afterword by the editor Dr. Iclal Ayse Kücükkirca, whom are members of the Hrant Dink Foundation's History Program. Kayseri's Armenians Speak is taking us to a visit through the memoirs of the Armenian society. This book is giving clues about the "self" and "other" perception the Armenian society carries, by giving examples on the deportation and genocide memories transmitted through generations, as the other books of the series. Kayseri was one of the rare cities in which Armenians continued to live during the Republican period, with 1,978 Armenians registered there according to the 1927 census. This total dropped to 1,600 in 1932, to 800 in 1960 and to zero today. After the migration of Armenians living in various areas of Anatolia to Istanbul, predominantly in the 1950s, a significant number of Armenians from Kayseri gathered in the Samatya district in particular.

Armenische, griechische und jüdische Klubs und Sportler. From the Ottoman era to our time. Armenian, Greek and Jewish clubs and athletes.

Great Exodus of the Halys Basin Iron Age community to the Eastern Anatolian Plateau.= Anadolu ve Ermeniler. Kizilirmak Havzasi Demir Çagi toplumunun Dogu Anadolu Yaylasi'na Büyük Göçü. Archaeology is a learning process. The recent systematic archaeological excavations in Anatolia started transforming the history of the land we a re living in from myth to reality. Protohistory, contrary to popular belief, is not a general historical concept vvith a clear start and a clear ending. Which means Protohistory did not started and ended in a specific period. Neolithic , Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age a re the Protohistory of the Hittites; just as the Early Iron Age is the Protohistory of the Phrygians and Urartians. On the other hand, the Eastern Anatolian Plateau, vvhich lost it's literary tradition after the Urartians, lived through it's second Protohistorical Period in the Late Iron Age (600 - 200 BC). ¿n this book the author is revaluating the Second Protohistorical Period of the Eastern Anatolian Plateau in the light of present and contemporary archaeological evidence and historical sources; pointing out vvith proof that in order to find the roots in Eastern Anatolia one should look to the West.
