This account of his Italian travels (1855-1857) in journal form was first published in 1859. Concentrating on Italian history and art, it covers: the Italian Riviera; Genoa; Florence; Rome; Naples; Etc. Norton also has some unkind things to say about the Roman Church and Papal Government.
