ABOUT THIS BOOK: Cecelia Holland's historical fiction is well known for its immersion in exotic cultures and "Until the Sun Falls" one of her most successful books takes the reader into the heart of the Mongol horde during the conquest of Russia and eastern Europe in the thirteenth century. Genghis Khan had told his people they were destined to rule the world and by his death they had made an impressive start. His four sons followed him to the leadership of the enormous new empire and continued the expansion. His eldest son Batu launched the conquest of the West--Russia and Europe. In a few years of devastating warfare the Mongols reached as far as Vienna mowing down every army that dared face them like an irresistible force of nature."Until the Sun Falls" stars a Mongol general Psin whose battles against the enemies of the Kha Khan sometimes seem easier than his struggles with his wives and his son. Wise brave and bloody-minded Psin embodies the passions and dreams of the greatest conquerors the world has ever seen at the height of their power. Quantity Available: 1. 1879ref. ABE-1773857679571London: E. Marlborough & Co. 1879 Author: Brown J. Holland Title: Memoir of Miss Berger Publication Details: London: E. Marlborough & Co. 1879 Condition: Good Description: A scarce Victorian memoir bound in original boards which remain notably strong square and well-aligned. The binding retains good structural integrity with no looseness to the hinges or text block. There is visible wear to the head and tail of the spine including rubbing and slight fraying consistent with age and typical handling over nearly a century and a half. The boards show light general handling marks but remain firm and presentable. Internally the text block is in very good order: pages are clean with clear crisp text throughout and no significant staining or marking noted. Paper has evenly toned with age as expected but remains highly readable. Overall a well-preserved and honest copy offering both durability and readability. An uncommon London imprint from E. Marlborough & Co. this work represents a lesser-seen example of late nineteenth-century biographical or memorial literature likely of interest to collectors of Victorian memoirs antiquarian books and niche historical narratives.
