Aristotle's 'Posterior Analytics' is a treatise on scientific demonstration and knowledge part of the Organon in which he sets out the conditions under which a syllogism can produce genuine scientific knowledge rather than merely probable or dialectical conclusions. It examines the nature of demonstrative proof definition and first principles arguing that all demonstration must ultimately rest on premises that are themselves true primary and known immediately rather than derived. This copy is inscribed by Robert Purves Hardie 1864–1942 a Scottish philosopher mathematician and translator best known for his translation of Aristotle's Physics in the Oxford translation of Aristotle's works. He was also a founding member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society. Oxford: Francis Macpherson, 1850. hardcover

The costs relating to delivering mail by rail are shown in a few ways including the transport costs per foot of train.
