One of Pocock’s giant kites still exists in the Museum of Bristol a BBC team recreated and flew the kite successfully in 2009 and in 2009 Takeshi Sugimoto of Kanagawa University determined that as long as the carriage was not exposed to the wind and kites were aloft they did produce sufficient lift to offer steady driving speeds for the carriage.
